Kazuma Horie
Description
Kazuma Horie is a Japanese voice actor and stage actor born on July 23, 1976, in Tokyo, Japan. He is affiliated with the talent management firm Aksent. His real name is Hidehisa Horie, and he has also performed under the stage names Hikaru Horie and his birth name. He is the older brother of film director and screenwriter Kei Horie.
Horie graduated from the Faculty of Business Administration at Tama University. During his university years, he trained at Aoni Juku, the training school affiliated with Aoni Production, to hone his skills in acting and voice acting. His professional career began in the late 1990s.
He has built a career with a wide range of roles in anime, video games, and foreign language dubbing. One of his most enduring and prominent roles is Kaname Tanuma in the long-running Natsume's Book of Friends (Natsume Yūjin-Chō) series, a part he has played since 2008, including all subsequent seasons, OVAs, and animated films such as Natsume's Book of Friends the Movie: Tied to the Temporal World. Another significant early role was Ryū Tsuji in the 2008 anime adaptation of Special A. He is also recognized for portraying Seiji Yagiri in the Durarara!! franchise, starting with the original 2010 series and continuing through the Durarara!!×2 sequels.
His other notable anime credits include roles in a variety of series. He voiced Regulus in the Goulart Knights OVAs, Snow Lily in Servamp and its film Gekijōban Servamp: Alice in the Garden, Alexi Baldebron in Hortensia Saga, Noa in Kiba, Galk in Claymore, and Glenn McGuire in Dragonar Academy. In the 2020 short-form anime Dogeza de Tanondemita, he provided the voice for the recurring role of "Heavenly Voice". He also had a guest role as Nadi and later as Rustyrose in the long-running series Fairy Tail. His filmography also includes the role of Tom in the Leiji Matsumoto series Ozma and Yoshitaka in the OVA Ashiaraiyashiki no Jūnin-tachi.
Beyond anime, Horie has an extensive body of work in video games, including roles such as Shinya Koguma in Starry☆Sky, Ao Shimonomiya in Da Capo Girls Symphony, and Radius in Record of Agarest War. He is also active in dubbing foreign films and television series into Japanese, with credits including the Chinese films The Four series and The Mermaid, as well as the Korean film Northern Limit Line.
In addition to voice acting, Horie has performed on stage and was a member of the music performance unit Verba-Rhythm from 2009 to 2012. He was also part of the voice actor unit G.Addict, which released several music albums. He shares his passion for the craft by working as a lecturer at vocational schools and workshops for aspiring voice actors.
