Description
Originally Mayu's imaginary companion "Shiro" (the Girl of Light), benevolent counterpart to "Kuro" (Yuki), Tama was modeled after the "Tamayorihime, New Moon Miko" WIXOSS card. She frequently battled Kuro alongside Mayu. Following Mayu's death, Shiro transformed into a living LRIG, lost her memories, and was sealed within a WXD-01 White Hope trial deck later purchased by Ayumu Kominato for his sister Rūko, becoming her initial LRIG.
Awakening with infantile mannerisms, Tama communicated through moans and cat-like sounds. She displayed immediate eagerness for Selector battles, often exclaiming "Battle!" Her appearance featured white hair tied with pink-white and orange ribbons, silver eyes, a white sleeveless dress, and long white boots. During combat, her personality shifted into that of a fierce, highly skilled warrior. Rūko named her "Tama" due to her vocal resemblance to a former pet cat.
Tama developed a strong bond with Rūko, though her battle enthusiasm initially frightened her Selector. Upon learning victories trapped Selectors as LRIGs, Tama refused to fight to protect Rūko. This loyalty drove her to betray Rūko's wish for collective salvation in the first season's climax, prioritizing Rūko's safety.
Forcibly taken as LRIG by Urith in the second season, Tama battled against her will. Reaching Level 5 triggered a transformation: black hair with black ribbons, red eyes, a grey sleeveless shirt, and darker skin. This change induced a berserker state, rendering her a mindless combatant. Post-battle, she expressed fear of her destructive power and resolved to ensure Rūko's happiness, even through harming others. Despite Urith's cruelty, Tama showed concern for her during critical moments.
Following the Selector battles' conclusion and Rūko's wish freeing all LRIGs, Tama became human. Reunited with Rūko, her appearance evolved to dark grey hair tied with white scrunchies, wearing a sailor-style school uniform. She lived with Rūko's family, actively participating in household chores like cleaning, attended school, and helped Rūko's grandmother, Hatsu, integrating into human society.
Tama maintained a kind disposition, true to her origin as Mayu's compassionate aspect. Her relationship with Rūko remained central, defined by mutual care and familial bonds. Later, characters like Yuzuki and Hitoe shielded Rūko from new Selector battle information to preserve Tama's peaceful existence.
Associated with The Sun tarot card symbolizing positivity and vitality, her name "Tama" (玉 - egg) alludes to her rebirth upon meeting Rūko. As a human, she represented the culmination of Rūko's efforts to end the Selector battles' cycle of suffering.
