Description
Rina Tennōji is a first-year Nijigasaki High School student who faces difficulty conveying emotions through facial expressions, often appearing expressionless despite her inner feelings. To communicate, she invented the "Rina-chan Board," starting as a sketchbook for drawing emotive faces and evolving into the hands-free "Auto Emotion Convert Rina-chan Board" for performances and daily life. This tool helps her overcome social anxiety and express feelings like joy, determination, or frustration that she cannot physically show.
She was invited to become a school idol by the protagonist of *Love Live! School Idol Festival ALL STARS*, accepting despite initial surprise. Ayumu Uehara and Ai Miyashita invited her to collaborate at Famitsu App, where she handles technology and content creation tasks; this proactive inclusion meant a great deal to her.
Personally, Rina considers herself "very cute" but recognizes her expressionlessness can seem antisocial. She admires Ai's confidence and friendliness as traits to emulate, gradually working to engage more directly with others and reduce her reliance on the board. Easily nervous yet persistently striving to improve, she dreams of one day revealing her genuine smile unaided. Her idol activities are central to this goal, believing audience support will grant her the confidence to express herself naturally.
Rina excels in STEM subjects like science and mathematics but struggles with Japanese. Her technological proficiency defines her: she develops apps (including a fortune-telling app), operates gadgets like quadcopters, and continuously refines her electronic board. She enjoys arcade and video games and owns a pet robot cat named Aran. Her hobbies involve drawing and creative projects, often blending art with technology.
Her journey emphasizes gradual self-acceptance. Initially fearing direct interaction due to worries about seeming displeased or boring, idol performances and club activities help her connect more openly. A pivotal moment came during preparations for a solo concert at an arcade: overwhelmed by insecurity, she designed the electronic board for live use after peer encouragement, showcasing her adaptability. She later aspired to host handshake events, acknowledging the need for further board modifications to facilitate direct fan engagement.
Her growth is reflected in competition rankings. After placing first in a monthly poll, she conveyed gratitude via her board, citing insufficient confidence to show her face. When ranking second later, she experienced unexpected frustration—a new emotion she recognized as part of her maturation—and vowed to improve.
Physically, Rina is notably short (149 cm) with a slim build, messy shoulder-length pink hair, and yellow eyes. Her casual style features sneakers and a hoodie paired with her uniform, a unique trait among peers.
Her overarching dream is to become an idol who connects with others and inspires smiles, hoping these interactions will eventually allow her to smile authentically alongside them.
