Description
Kasumi Nakasu is a first-year student at Nijigasaki High School and a central figure in the school's Idol Club. She is recognizable by her short, grey-brown hair and light magenta eyes, often complemented by a yellow hairpin shaped like a star and crescent moon worn on her left side. Her image color is pastel yellow, and she is a member of the subunit QU4RTZ.

Kasumi is a lively and friendly girl with an unmatched passion for all things cute, especially idols. This enthusiasm is a driving force behind her ambition to become a top idol. She is highly competitive and desperately wants to be number one in any challenge she undertakes, sometimes resorting to playful schemes or what she calls "devious tactics" to get ahead, such as spreading rumors or planning distractions. While these plans rarely work as intended and she can be a sore loser, her mischievous side is generally harmless and lacks genuine malice. Deep down, she is kind and considerate, readily offering comfort to nervous friends like Ayumu Uehara before a performance or exchanging heartfelt gifts with her peers. One of her notable quirks is her intense dislike for the nickname Kasukasu, as it is associated with past bullying and has connotations of being "not quite" good enough, leading her to prefer being called Kasumin.

Her backstory reveals that she had always dreamed of becoming an idol, and she was the most passionate member of the School Idol Club when it was active. When the club fell into disarray to the point of disbandment, Kasumi stubbornly refused to give up, declaring herself the president and remaining the sole member in an effort to keep its spirit alive. This determination is a core part of her character. In the anime, she is instrumental in reviving the club when she overhears Ayumu Uehara and Yu Takasaki expressing interest in school idols, actively recruiting them and setting the club's revival in motion.

Throughout the story, Kasumi occupies a genuine leadership role as the club's president, a position she holds even as more members join. She is driven by a desire to perform with a senpai she adores, which initially fuels her solo efforts. Her motivations evolve as she learns to balance her personal ambition for the top spot with the value of group unity. A key moment in her development involves realizing that she was imposing her own ideal of "cuteness" on another member in the same way she felt Setsuna Yuki had imposed "coolness" on her, leading to a change of heart and a greater appreciation for everyone's individual strengths. Consequently, she transitions from a self-proclaimed "devious tactician" scheming for solo victory to a supportive, though still spirited, member of the group.

Her key relationships are varied. She shares a significant dynamic with Yu Takasaki, whom she refers to as "Senpai," often trying to monopolize their attention while ultimately valuing their support. She admires Karin Asaka for her mature and sophisticated appearance, and she views Setsuna Yuki as a talented and passionate role model, despite their initial creative conflicts. Among her peers, she has a tradition of creating affectionate nicknames for her fellow first-year students, calling Shizuku Osaka "Shizuko," Rina Tennoji "Rinako," and Shioriko Mifune "Shioko". Beyond her idol activities, Kasumi enjoys baking bread, a skill she is quite proud of, and spends several hours watching idol videos to study her craft. Academically, she excels in science and home economics but dislikes classical literature and history, preferring to look toward the future.
