Mayu Sagara is a Japanese voice actress and singer from Kyoto Prefecture, born on April 17, 1995. Her interest in animation began in early childhood, and by her sixth year of elementary school, she had set her sights on becoming a voice actor. This ambition was further fueled by her admiration for the work of voice actors Nana Mizuki and Yukari Tamura in the series Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha StrikerS. During high school, she began actively pursuing this career by participating in voice acting auditions. She later enrolled in the Pro-Fit Voice Actor Training School and, after graduating, became affiliated with the agency Link-Plan in 2015, marking the start of her professional career.
Sagara's first named role was as Mirai Kajiwara in the 2016 anime series Idol Memories. A significant turning point in her career came in 2017 when she was cast as Kasumi Nakasu in the mobile game Love Live! School Idol Festival ALL STARS, a role that would become her most recognized. Kasumi Nakasu is a central character in the Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club project, and Sagara has voiced her across multiple adaptations, including the television anime series in 2020 and 2022, the OVA Next Sky in 2023, the short-form series Nijiyon Animation and its second season, and the 2024 theatrical film Love Live! Nijigasaki Gakuen School Idol Dōkōkai Kanketsu-hen Dai-1-Shō. Being a fan of the Love Live! franchise herself, she was known to be highly proficient at the related rhythm games prior to her involvement.
Beyond this signature role, Sagara has built a diverse portfolio of voice work. In 2020, she voiced Moe Isurugi in Warlords of Sigrdrifa. The following year, she took on roles such as Ayaka Mizusawa in PuraOre! Pride of Orange and Miruki Amauri in Waccha PriMagi!. Her 2022 credits include Iroha Akishika in Teppen—!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Laughing 'til you Cry and Ume Toranomon in Aru Asa Dummy Head Mike ni Natteita Ore-kun no Jinsei. In 2023, she voiced Mike Nekotani in the short-form anime My Life as Inukai-san's Dog. She has also appeared in a wide range of other anime, including Idol Time PriPara, where she voiced the character Chiako, and Demon Lord, Retry!. Her work extends to video games, with notable roles such as Finnie Golden in the game Snowbreak: Containment Zone.
In addition to her voice acting, Sagara is active in music. She is a member of the voice actor unit Prima Porta and the Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club subunit QU4RTZ. In September 2023, she made her solo debut as a singer under the Universal Music Japan label with the release of her first album in November of that year. Her contributions to voice acting have been recognized with a collective award, sharing the Best Voice Actor Award in the Synergy category at the 17th Seiyu Awards for her work in the Nijigasaki High School Idol Club project.

She left Digital Double in May 2024 and, as of late 2024, is a freelancer. Her hobbies include karaoke, searching for good restaurants, and playing darts. She also holds a fifth-degree rank in abacus calculation and plays the tenor saxophone.
