Description
Mia Taylor is a main character in Love Live! Nijigasaki High School Idol Club. She is a third-year student at Nijigasaki High School, having transferred from New York, and speaks both English and Japanese fluently. She is a member of the sub-unit R3BIRTH and her image color is platinum silver. Physically, she has a slim figure with boycut-styled platinum silver hair, grey eyes, and a silver rectangular earring on her left ear. Born on December 6, she is only 14 years old but had skipped grades and was attending university in the United States before transferring to Nijigasaki as a third-year student. She comes from the Taylor family, a world-renowned musical family, and is herself a music prodigy and highly skilled composer.

In terms of personality, Mia is straightforward and competitive, sometimes coming across as cocky. She can boldly declare a rivalry, such as when she challenged another songwriter. However, this confidence is largely a façade; she is prone to insecurity about the quality of her songs compared to others. Despite her talent, she struggles with self-doubt. She is also described as a homebody who prefers a quiet life and has strong opinions about hamburgers and baseball, two of her favorite things.

Mia’s primary motivation stems from a childhood dream to become a singer, which she had given up on. She initially focused on composing for others, working as a top composer, but she always wanted to express her own feelings and worldview through her own singing. She lacked the confidence to pursue singing until she was dragged to Japan by her friend Lanzhu Zhong. Though she initially had little interest in school idols, meeting the Nijigasaki club members helped her reexamine her desires. Through interactions, especially with Rina Tennoji and others, she found the courage to try singing. She officially joined the Nijigasaki High School Idol Club as its twelfth member and eleventh school idol alongside Lanzhu. Her role in the story is that of a latecomer who rediscovers her passion and learns to embrace vulnerability, contributing her compositional expertise and eventually her voice to the group.

Key relationships include her close friendship with Lanzhu Zhong, who brought her to Japan and supported her. She also shares a meaningful bond with Rina Tennoji, who advised her to get closer to others to understand their perspectives. Within the club, she forms connections with the other members who encourage her to pursue singing.

Over the course of the story, Mia develops from a withdrawn, competitive composer into a more open and confident school idol. She overcomes her insecurities about singing and learns to value collaboration and emotional expression over sheer technical skill. Her notable abilities include exceptional musical composition, fluent bilingual communication, and a natural singing voice that she eventually brings to the stage. She is also recognized as a prodigy, having advanced academically years ahead of her peers.
