Description
Alfred Reinford, a former court magician and adventurer turned pivotal mentor, rose from orphaned origins through innate magical talent. Forging his path as an adventurer, he eventually served as head magician under Margrave Bleichroder until his demise in the Demon Forest, where he fell alongside 2,000 soldiers. Unresolved regrets over leaving no disciple anchored his spirit as a sentient undead—a Talking Corpse—retaining consciousness while battling encroaching madness.

Sensing Wendelin von Benno Baumeister’s latent magic, Alfred mentors the young noble, dedicating three weeks to rigorous instruction. He teaches elemental spells—wind, fire, ice, stone—and advanced techniques like crafting magical swords, stressing discipline and humility to counter arrogance. Beyond combat, he guides Wendelin through noble politics and inheritance strategies.

Bound by transient undeath, Alfred requests holy purification post-training to avert a lich’s fate. His final act bequeaths Wendelin his estate, artifacts, and research, later compiled into a foundational magic textbook under Alfred’s name.

Years later, his soul is forcibly summoned during the Urquhart Holy Empire’s civil war, clashing with Wendelin before a final farewell. His legacy includes mentorship under Brantark Ringstat and a rivalry-turned-alliance with Klimt Kristoff von Armstrong, the kingdom’s court wizard.

Alfred’s affable demeanor, unwavering dedication, and pragmatic acceptance of mortality define him. His appearance blends nobility and practicality—long blonde hair, green eyes, a golden tiara, and adventurer’s garb. Though his presence is brief, his role as Wendelin’s revered first mentor cements his influence, shaping the protagonist’s ethics and power indelibly.
