Description
Alfredo Martini, eldest son of Piedmont’s Viscount Vittorio and Viscountess Patrizia, grew up in aristocratic comfort alongside his piano-prodigy sister, Bianca. His bookish childhood dissolved when scheming relatives Maurizio and Grazela set their mansion ablaze, murdering their parents. Framed for the crime, the siblings fled with the Martini medal—a royal-blessed heirloom—while evading authorities.

To shield Bianca, Alfredo bound himself to Luini, the "God of Death" labor broker, becoming a Milanese chimney sweep. En route, he rescued Romeo from wrongful theft accusations, forging a brotherly bond before their forced separation. Sold to the sadistic Citron, Alfredo endured brutal conditions marked by starvation and violence.

Reuniting with Romeo, Alfredo spearheaded the creation of the Black Brothers, a chimney-sweep mutual-aid group. His strategic mind and courage rallied the gang to overthrow the rival Wolf Pack in clashes at San Babila Church and Sempione Park. Their exploits extended to mending fractured nobility, aiding Countess Isabella Montovani in reuniting with her estranged granddaughter, Angeletta.

Maurizio and Grazela resurfaced, kidnapping Bianca to claim the Martini medal. The Black Brothers thwarted their plot, but Alfredo collapsed upon reunion, ravaged by tuberculosis. Diagnosed by Dr. Casella, he tasked the physician with Bianca’s safety while marshaling allies—including the reformed Wolf Pack and Countess Montovani—to present the medal to Italy’s king. This act validated their lineage, exonerated their name, and restored their inheritance.

Alfredo’s final days saw him bequeath Bianca’s guardianship and gang leadership to Romeo before succumbing to illness. Though his romantic inclinations stayed unresolved, Nikita of the Wolf Pack harbored unspoken affection for him. His legacy endured through the Black Brothers’ unity and Bianca’s path to nursing.
