Despite visible nervousness and mistakes during her audition, Ichigo recognized an innate idol quality in her and selected her as a winner. Early on, Akari showed enthusiasm mixed with clumsiness, emotional sensitivity, and a tendency to become frustrated, yet she consistently bounced back from setbacks. She roomed with Yū Hattori and received mentorship from Ichigo. After her first joint performance with Ichigo, Ichigo told Akari that she possessed her own unique light, prompting Akari to cut her long hair into a shorter bob as a declaration of independence and to forge her own path. Over time, she grew significantly more confident, hardworking, and independent while retaining her cheerful, energetic nature. Her hairstyle evolved gradually, eventually featuring a braid across the top of her head. She formed key friendships and units: Luminas with Sumire Hikami and Hinaki Shinjō, and later Skips♪ with Madoka Amahane. She also took on a mentoring role for Rin Kurosawa. Her journey involved overcoming challenges such as struggling with special appeals and learning teamwork during the demanding Aikatsu! Boot Camp, as well as trials like the Partner’s Cup and the Great Starlight School Festival. Achieving the Starlight Queen title marked her ultimate achievement. In her acceptance speech, she explained that inspired by Ichigo’s ability to bring smiles, she strives to be an idol who spreads joy everywhere, working harder despite obstacles. Her name reflects this journey: Ōzora (vast sky) signifies encompassing greater things, and Akari (light) represents her own shining presence. In the special Aikatsu! ~Nerawareta Mahō no Aikatsu! Card~, Akari, as Starlight Queen, starred as the main heroine in a film directed in‑universe by Ichigo Hoshimiya, reflecting her top idol status.
