Description
Lizard Priest is a lizardman adventurer of Silver rank and a member of Goblin Slayer's party. He has green skin, horns on his head, and tribal white markings across his cheek, giving him an intimidating stature even among friends. He belongs to a rare lizardman race with its own religion, one that holds deep reverence for ancestors and teaches that by slaying heretics a lizardman can ascend to become a dragon. Lizard Priest is devout and often leads prayers, addressing others politely and maintaining a calm, composed demeanor. He cares deeply for nature and respects all forms of life, though he is not above ruthless efficiency in combat.

His role in the story began when he arrived in town alongside a high elf and a dwarf, having heard of Goblin Slayer through a poem. He approached Goblin Slayer with a request and, after the mission, chose to remain as a regular member. Within the party he frequently acts as the mediator, using his common sense to smooth over conflicts between the long-lived dwarf and high elf, who are both significantly older than him. He is the only mortal among those three, which shapes his perspective on time and achievement.

Lizard Priest's motivations are tied to his faith: he seeks to earn enough merit through defeating heretics such as goblins and other monsters to eventually become a dragon. This ambition drives him to face dangerous opponents without hesitation. He is also intensely curious about the wider world, as shown by his immediate fascination with cheese when Goblin Slayer first offered it to him. Having never encountered dairy products among his people, he called cheese nectar and thereafter frequently requested it.

In battle, Lizard Priest functions as a versatile frontline fighter and miracle caster. He excels in close-quarters combat, using his natural physical might and tail to devastating effect. He can cast up to four miracles per day, including healing, communication spells, a partial dragon transformation that swells his muscles, and the creation of Dragon Fang Soldiers from a catalyst such as a dragon tooth. These skeletal warriors can fight or carry goods. He can also create Dragon Soldier Swords through his prayers. His miracles are named after ancient dinosaurs, reflecting his culture's reverence for draconic ancestors.

Lizard Priest's relationships within the party are marked by mutual respect. He addresses Goblin Slayer with the honorific Sir and works seamlessly alongside Priestess, Dwarf Shaman, and High Elf Archer. Over time, he has grown more accustomed to the customs of other races and has developed as a tactician, often coordinating group efforts during large-scale battles such as the defense of the ranch against the Goblin Lord's army. His personal development includes deepening his understanding of the outside world while staying true to his goal of draconic ascension.
