Description
Kuromaru Manpuku is a jet racer and personal maid. She possesses thigh-length pink hair tied in low pigtails with yellow bows, featuring bangs hanging on her left side, and light-green eyes. Her casual outfit blends a maid costume with shinobi elements: a buttoned blue uniform top revealing deep cleavage, a short blue skirt, white frills, an apron, and a headpiece. Accessories include gauntlets, thigh-high boots with metal detailing, and a red rope around her waist secured by a ninja shuriken buckle that extends to her thigh clothing sections. She consistently carries an oversized rolling pin on her back. Her racing attire alternates between a full-body black-and-grey wetsuit with a black maid headpiece and later a red bikini with a white maid headpiece.

Personality-wise, she exhibits an excitable and agreeable demeanor toward competitions. Her loyalty centers intensely on Kaguya Shijyuin, whom she serves as both maid and racing teammate. This dedication manifests through protective actions and self-sacrificial tendencies, often neglecting her own well-being to support Kaguya. Her background as a kunoichi from a family that served the Shijyuin lineage for generations informs her values; she reacts defensively when others discover her shinobi heritage or stereotype it. She also possesses a large appetite, frequently producing and consuming oversized onigiri.

Her background includes attending Musashino Girls High School alongside Kaguya. Within the video game's Musashino-centric storyline, their team "Dress" enters the Kandagawa Cup to prevent the school's racing team closure. Kuromaru trains exhaustively to ensure victory, leading to physical collapse. This compels Kaguya to intentionally delay their race start time to enforce rest. Other teams unexpectedly postpone the race for them, enabling Dress to compete and ultimately win the Cup, securing the team's future. In alternative game story arcs, such as the Kandagawa Jet Girls arc, Dress loses an initial river-claiming race and later misses the Cup due to Kuromaru's implied exhaustion. During the Unkai Surfers arc, she expresses concern over their stereotypical views of shinobi traditions. Within the Grindcore narrative, Dress becomes a rival team aiming to correct Grindcore's competitive philosophy, ultimately defeating them to prompt Kamui Kurenai's perspective shift.

In the anime and OVA, she appears early in Episode 1, participating in a race against Rin Namiki and Misa Aoi. As Shooter, she incapacitates their opponents' vehicle by targeting Misa's underwear, securing victory. In the OVA, she collaborates with Kaguya to create a promotional video for jet racing, initially rejected for being overly intimidating. While she speaks minimally during the main series, her participation expands in the OVA as various teams attempt alternative promotional approaches.

Her primary relationship is with Kaguya Shijyuin, characterized by mutual deep care and interdependence. Kuromaru serves as teammate, maid, and best friend, upholding her family's generational service. Kaguya reciprocates by prioritizing Kuromaru's health over competitions and treating her to meals. Interactions with other characters remain limited; she recognizes Misa Aoi as Rin Namiki's teammate who assists with jetski maintenance and views the Unkai Surfers' shinobi-related taunts with concern.

Her name, "Kuromaru," combines "black" (黒) and "circle/purity" (丸), while "Manpuku" means "full stomach" (満腹), aligning with her eating habits.
