Description
Sōgo Ōsaka is a vocalist and dancer in the idol group IDOLiSH7 and its sub-unit MEZZO". Raised under the strict hierarchy of his father Soshi Osaka, CEO of FSC, his childhood was marked by the death of his musician uncle Satoshi Osaka. The family blamed music for this loss, instilling in Sōgo a deep fear of abandonment and difficulty voicing personal desires to avoid burdening others. His father particularly forbade music, expecting Sōgo to inherit the family business. While attending university, Sōgo was scouted by Otoharu Takanashi. A persuasive conversation in a coffee shop led Sōgo to choose his own path over his predetermined future. He abandoned his studies to join IDOLiSH7, resulting in his disownment.

Sōgo presents as calm, reserved, and meticulously polite, often suppressing his own needs for group harmony—a reflection of his upbringing that fuels internal anxiety and self-doubt, especially regarding pursuits like songwriting. Despite his gentle demeanor, he exhibits extreme intensity when angered, sometimes resulting in destructive actions or wielding objects. He is highly responsible, arriving early for appointments, and values orderliness, tidiness, and window shopping. His sharp memory aids in quickly mastering choreography. He identifies as an indoor person and has managed mild anemia.

His interests span diverse music genres (traditional, jazz, rock). He secretly played guitar in a university friend's band and collects merchandise from groups like TRIGGER, constructing an "alter" in his room with Mitsuki Izumi's guidance. He possesses a high spice tolerance, favoring chili con carne, green curry, and jerk chicken, and drinks espresso plain. He dislikes sweet snacks but tolerates bitter flavors. He struggles with drawing, telling jokes, decision-making, and refusing requests. He consults manuals (e.g., "How To Approach Adolescents") to address problems and developed a temporary fascination with alarm clocks to manage Tamaki Yotsuba's chronic lateness. He carries stomach ulcer medication and experiences abrupt mood shifts.

As IDOLiSH7's all-rounder, Sōgo forms MEZZO" with Tamaki, designing their unit signature. Their contrasting personalities cause friction, yet Sōgo supports Tamaki through joint running sessions to build stamina and singing "Poisonous Gangster" to ease his fears. He frequently seeks advice from Yamato Nikaido first, sharing a maternal group role alongside Yamato's paternal one. His first drinking experience was with Yamato and Mitsuki. He watches TRIGGER DVDs with Riku Nanase, assists Riku with chores, and reads nightly ghost stories to Nagi Rokuya after taking a joking request seriously. An attempt to call Tamaki "Taa-kun" caused a startled accident.

His growth involves gradually expressing desires, like sharing songwriting interests. In *Third Beat!* episode 4, he performs the insert song "Koi no Kakera." His journey emphasizes learning to rely on the group during anxieties, embodying his belief that hardships need not be faced alone.

His name "Sōgo" (壮五) combines "magnificent/strong" (壮) and "five" (五). "Ōsaka" (逢坂) signifies "meeting hill," historically representing romantic rendezvous or separations.
