Description
Yamato Nikaidō is a 22-year-old male with olive hair and grey eyes, standing 177 cm tall and weighing 64 kg. Born on February 14 with blood type B, he favors Japanese food and alcohol but avoids hot or spicy dishes due to a sensitive tongue. His surname "Nikaidō" blends "二階" (second floor) and "堂" (temple/majestic), while "Yamato" combines "大" (big/great) and "和" (gentle/harmonious)—the latter also referencing an alternative name for Japan.

He initially entered the entertainment industry driven by revenge against someone from his past, harboring deep resentment. Witnessing others' dedication led him to abandon this motive, shifting his focus toward helping peers achieve their dreams. Agency head Otoharu Takanashi recruited him by intervening during another scout's persistent offer, convincing Yamato to join under the pretext of being that scout's backer—a scenario Yamato likened to a wingman stealing the girlfriend.

As the oldest group member, he assumed leadership by default despite nearly withdrawing from auditions. Publicly perceived as lazy and easygoing, he demonstrates unexpected passion for responsibilities and profound care for fellow members. This contrast shows in habits like weight training to prevent a beer belly while idling in bed until noon on off days. He insists on single rooms during group hotel stays and avoids driving despite having a license, citing laziness and the desire to drink.

His leadership involves subtle support, such as preparing character lunches for younger members—notably placing flags only in Iori and Tamaki's omurice. He resisted special birthday treatment by reciprocating members' gestures. Past actions include making polar bear shaved ice for Nagi during heat fatigue and tearing up after year-end performances. Relationships feature unique nicknames: he calls Iori "Ichi" and receives "Oniisan" (big brother) or "Yappi" from Gaku.

Distinctive trivia includes naming his Roomba "Musashi," referencing the WWII battleship Musashi (sister ship to the Yamato). He uses a backscratcher for remote retrieval and once contemplated contact lenses. During a concert, Nagi lifted him off his feet in a hug, causing temporary breathlessness.
