TV-Series
Description
Hinata Mukai is the only daughter of the Mukai family, which shares a close, family-like friendship with the Kuga family. This connection establishes her as the childhood friend of Hiroto Kuga, the protagonist of Gundam Build Divers Re:RISE. Her daily life is that of a cheerful, literary-minded high school girl who is a dedicated member of her school's archery club, practicing Kyudo, the Japanese martial art of archery. To further her independence and engage with her interests, she begins working part-time as a staff member at the G-CAFÉ, a real-world cafe themed around Gundam.
Although Hinata is not an active player of Gundam Battle Nexus (GBN), the online virtual space where the series' main conflicts unfold, she possesses a solid understanding of Gundam and Gunpla culture. This knowledge comes from her childhood, during which she spent time building Gunpla with Hiroto and reading materials related to the Gundam series. This unique position allows her to be a bridge between Hiroto’s personal life and his activities as a Diver.
Hinata’s primary role in the narrative is deeply personal and emotional, serving as a grounding presence for Hiroto. She is one of the few people who has known him for a long time and is acutely aware of a significant past trauma in his life. Specifically, she knows of the existence of Eve, a special person whom Hiroto lost in GBN, an event that caused him to leave the game and become emotionally withdrawn. Recognizing this painful history, Hinata makes a conscious choice not to pry or bring it up, instead offering quiet support from the sidelines. Her observations about Hiroto are insightful; she describes him as someone who inherently likes to help others, a core part of his personality that became buried under his loss and subsequent lack of motivation. During the second season, as Hiroto confronts his past and finds the courage to fight for the real people of the planet Eldora, Hinata's role becomes a crucial element of his character development, providing the real-world context for his emotional journey.
Her key relationship is undeniably with Hiroto, which is built on a lifetime of familiarity and care. She is a figure of his ordinary life, representing home, stability, and a connection to his past self before his grief. While she is not part of the core BUILD DiVERS team that fights in GBN, her presence as a non-combat personnel member offers a link to the real world for Hiroto and the audience. In terms of abilities, her skills are not related to Gunpla battle. Instead, her notable abilities are her proficiency in Kyudo, which reflects her patience and focus, and her emotional intelligence in understanding and supporting Hiroto without being intrusive. Her development is subtle but significant, as she moves from being a supportive background friend to a more active emotional anchor, helping the protagonist rediscover his motivation and capacity to protect others.
