Description
Frederica Baumann, a demi-human maid, first serves House Miload before rejoining Roswaal’s mansion during Arc 4 to address staffing shortages following Rem’s disappearance. Half-sister to Garfiel Tinzel through their shared mother, she departed the Sanctuary a decade prior to Arc 4 to establish a refuge for its inhabitants should the barrier collapse.
Trained from a young age by Clind, Roswaal’s associate, in maidcraft and controlling her beast form, her relationship with him fractured after youthful romantic feelings soured their dynamic. Clind’s lingering regard for her emerges when he refrains from attacking her during a hostage scenario in the Greed If storyline. Later, as Petra Leyte’s evaluator, Frederica rigorously assesses the young applicant’s capabilities, initially skeptical of her age but ultimately recognizing Petra’s resolve and competence. She guides Petra’s training with Clind-influenced tenets: unwavering composure and immaculate presentation.
Her bond with Garfiel reflects a fractured yet enduring sibling connection. Despite childhood separation, she sustains contact via letters and aids his emotional maturation, particularly during his struggle to accept their mother’s amnesia. Within the Emilia Camp, her contributions span logistics—such as assisting Subaru’s extraction from Vollachia with Clind—and maintaining mansion operations.
Frederica’s demeanor blends disciplined rigor with quiet compassion. She enforces exacting standards, evident in her meticulous management of the mansion and insistence on Petra’s exhaustive preparation. Occasional cracks in her restraint surface, like her visible dismay upon discovering Subaru permitted children to play tag indoors, emphasizing her devotion to propriety.
Her narrative role consistently prioritizes safeguarding the vulnerable, from securing the Sanctuary’s future to mentoring Petra. Unresolved friction with Clind and unwavering dedication to duty paint a portrait of loyalty shaped by obligation, family ties, and the shadows of past emotional strife.
