Description
Sasha Braus hailed from Dauper, a remote hunting village nestled in Wall Rose's southern mountains. Her father taught her hunting skills, forming the foundation of her future combat abilities. Disagreement with her father over sharing the village forests with refugees from Wall Maria's collapse drove her to enlist in the military, an act of defiance aimed at protecting her community's traditional way of life.

Initially displaying timidity and eccentricity, Sasha masked her rural accent with overly formal speech due to embarrassment. On her first day with the 104th Cadet Corps, she earned the nickname "Potato Girl" after stealing and eating a steamed potato during initiation, leading to severe punishment. Her compulsive food hoarding and gluttony stemmed from experiences with scarcity in Dauper, though she maintained a slender physique. Early on, she showed mistrust of outsiders and a narrow worldview, traits that gradually shifted through friendships with cadets like Connie Springer, Jean Kirschtein, Mikasa Ackerman, and Historia Reiss. Ymir's blunt encouragement helped her embrace her authentic dialect and identity.

Ranking 9th in the 104th Cadet Corps, Sasha demonstrated exceptional intuition and reflexes but struggled with group coordination. During the Battle of Trost, she participated in reclaiming the supply depot, where Mikasa saved her from a Titan. Despite her terror of Titans, she chose to join the Survey Corps, reflecting her growing resolve. Later, stationed near her village during Wall Rose's breach, she encountered a Titan attacking Kaya's family. Using only a bow and arrow, she lured the Titan away to save Kaya, showcasing her courage and resourcefulness without ODM gear. This act forged a sisterly bond with Kaya.

Post-time-skip, Sasha served as a sharpshooter in the Survey Corps, adopting a more professional demeanor during missions like the Raid on Liberio. She acknowledged that killing enemy soldiers had become easier, yet hesitated to shoot the child soldier Gabi Braun aboard an airship. This hesitation resulted in Gabi fatally wounding her. Her death deeply impacted her allies: Connie Springer grieved like a lost sibling; Niccolo, a Marleyan chef who credited Sasha with helping him find purpose through cooking, nearly murdered Gabi in retaliation; Kaya attempted vengeful violence before being consoled by Sasha's parents.

Sasha's legacy endured through her authentic warmth, loyalty, and ability to bridge divisions, exemplified by her genuine connection with Niccolo despite Marley-Eldian tensions. Her father's philosophy of prioritizing human solidarity over tradition ultimately resonated through her relationships.
