Description
Hideto Suzuri is a blue card battler and bearer of the core's light, initially presented as a dedicated card collector obsessed with X-rares. A childhood incident involving bullying and the theft of a favorite card shaped his early unsociable and self-centered personality. He demanded meticulous care for his cards, requiring trimmed nails for handlers and struggling with teamwork.
In *Battle Spirits Shounen Gekiha Dan*, Suzuri served as the blue soldier. Driven by rare cards, he infiltrated the Deathmatch Group but later stayed in Mimi Village pursuing The Deity Catastrophedragon. After losing this card to Dan Bashin in battle, he reluctantly began cooperating with the core soldiers. His loyalty to Brustom earned him the temporary kingship of the blue world and X-rares like The GiantEmperor Alexander. During this time, he wrestled with perceived inadequacy compared to the other core soldiers, recognizing his past battles were solely for personal gain. Encouraged by Dan and Yuuki, he embraced his role, aided in destroying the Grand Core, and contributed Alexander to Dan's final battle against the Otherworld King.
Two years later in *Battle Spirits Brave*, Suzuri initially relished celebrity status as a bearer of core's light but became disillusioned by societal backlash and scapegoating. He traveled alone until Kenzo summoned him to the future, where he acted as an informant for humanity's forces. Tasked with locating the 12 Zodiac X-rares, he secured The MagicalTwinsDeity Geminize in Africa and delivered it to Dan, demonstrating new skills like acupuncture to treat Dan's injured arm during their reunion. Suzuri continued independently collecting Zodiac X-rares, obtaining The PirateDeity Piscegalleon and The SephirothicSheepDeity Sephiro-Aries. He faced competition from Barone's forces, notably when Eolus intercepted his attempt to retrieve The MachineLionDeity Strikewurm-Leo. Throughout Brave, Suzuri mellowed significantly, willingly giving X-rares to Dan without demanding battles and participating in warm-up matches to support him. His deck evolved into a multi-color hybrid, though he maintained a preference for independent operations. He returned to his own timeline after Dan's final battle, relocating to New York.
In the sequel OVA *Battle Spirits Saga Brave*, set ten years after Brave, Suzuri lived in 2020 A.D. alongside Mai Shinomiya and Kenzo Hyoudou. He possessed the pivotal mysterious card "Miracle of the Clash King" when human supremacists threatened peace between humans and mazoku, leading him to collaborate with former allies against this new threat.
Suzuri's appearance evolved: in Gekiha Dan, he had blue hair, brown eyes, bandaged arms, a red collar, and a criss-crossed belt; in Brave, he wore a tan jacket, blue shorts, a brown cowboy hat, retaining his signature belt and collar. His battle attire featured silver armor and gloves for card protection. A card based on him, "Suzuri Hideto," exists as a blue Nexus card with Core Charge and deck disruption effects.
