Description
Saika Totsuka is a male student in Class 2F at Sobu High School and president of the Tennis Club. His strikingly soft and feminine appearance features light grey or silver hair, large blue eyes, and fair skin, leading to frequent misidentification as a girl. He actively tries to present more masculinely and feels discomfort when mistaken. Female classmates often call him "The Prince" due to his looks and demeanor.
He was in Hachiman Hikigaya's first-year class, though Hachiman initially didn't recall. Saika first approaches the Service Club seeking help to improve his tennis, beginning his recurring, unofficial involvement in their activities. His dedication to tennis shows through consistent practice during breaks and free time. His leadership is recognized when he's nominated Tennis Club president after the previous president retired.
Saika's personality is kind, approachable, and peaceful. He avoids conflict and strives for harmony, silently acquiescing when Yumiko Miura demanded the tennis courts. He forms a notable friendship with Hachiman, addressing him by his first name—unusual among peers. They partner in gym class tennis, join the same workplace tour, and visit a game arcade where Saika's appearance gains them entry to a couples-only photo booth. During this outing, he perceptively notices Hachiman's distress and tries to cheer him, later gifting him a photo.
His development includes increased tennis determination after witnessing a match involving Hachiman, Yui Yuigahama, Yukino Yukinoshita, Hayato Hayama, and Yumiko Miura. He assists the Service Club with requests, like helping Taishi Kawasaki address his sister Saki's issues, though he was excluded from activities like the Royal Okura Hotel visit due to lacking formal attire. At Yui's birthday party, he participated by leading toasts, cutting cake, and singing karaoke with Komachi Hikigaya.
Trivia notes include his fondness for rabbits and horror-themed attractions, sensitivity to sunlight, and possession of Hachiman's contact information—a privilege few have. His parents named him "Saika" hoping his life would "add colour to others."
