Description
Himawari Nohara enters the world on September 27, 1996, as the infant daughter of Hiroshi and Misae Nohara and younger sister to Shinnosuke. Her name, meaning "sunflower" in Japanese, emerged victorious from approximately 107,135 audience submissions proposing 2,807 different names. Exhibiting a precocious and vibrant personality as a newborn, she displays gradual maturation and increasing intelligence throughout the series. Though nonverbal, her thoughts and communications are conveyed clearly through subtitles.

She mirrors her mother's traits, stubbornly pursuing attractive men and displaying a palpable attraction to shiny objects, jewelry, and brand-name goods, possessing the uncanny ability to distinguish genuine jewels from imitations, which she discards. Her mischievous and active nature reveals itself in high-speed crawling and using the family dog, Shiro, as a personal plaything. Within the family, she embodies both adoration and inadvertent infantile annoyance.

In the film "Crayon Shin-chan: Densetsu o Yobu Odore! Amigo!", Himawari becomes entangled in an invasion of konjaclone duplicates created by scientist Amigo Suzuki. During a shopping mall visit, Misae encounters a clone of herself alongside a clone of Himawari. This encounter triggers the Nohara family's flight from Kasukabe City with operative Jacqueline "Jackie" Feeney. Himawari remains passive throughout the escape and confrontations, consistent with her infant status, yet remains the focal point of family protection.

Official specials and spin-offs depict Himawari's future. "Super-Dimension! The Storm Called My Bride" portrays her around age twenty, working as a police officer; despite this age progression, she retains her characteristic facial expressions and attraction to handsome men. Additional manga specials explore her life as a five-year-old, revealing playful and chaotic tendencies mirroring her brother's childhood behavior, often causing significant trouble. Her relationships include a sibling-like bond with Masao Sato, who dreams of her calling him "Masao onii-chan," and a fondness for Toru Kazama, with some depictions suggesting a future marriage.
