Description
Mars the sphinx accompanies Unico and Cheri on their journey to confront Lord Kuruku in "Unico in the Island of Magic". He exhibits energetic and adventurous traits, reacting with immediate excitement to the name "Nightmare Island". Distinctive fangs mark his physical design. Mars demonstrates loyalty and courage throughout the quest to stop Kuruku's plan of transforming living beings into lifeless puppets, facing the threat himself. During the climax, Kuruku's magic transforms Mars into a living puppet alongside Cheri, incorporating him into the castle construction. This transformation reverses following Kuruku's defeat and the collapse of his magic. Mars interacts with other characters, including the sentient Trojan Horse found at the world's end. His background as a sphinx is noted without elaboration. Mars originated as an adaptation of the manga character Piro; the film version changed the character's gender and name while retaining core personality elements. Mars appears only within this specific film narrative.
