Description
General Budai commands the armies of Kosala, leading military campaigns against neighboring territories. His forces invade the Shakya kingdom, destroying the village of Tatta and inflicting heavy casualties. Injured following a battle, Budai requires rescue. He is saved by Chapra, an individual born into slavery. Mistaking Chapra for a member of the Kshatriya warrior caste, Budai is impressed and adopts him as his son. This act dramatically elevates Chapra's social standing. Chapra conceals his true Shudra caste origins to preserve his new position within Kosala's aristocracy. Budai's adoption of Chapra becomes a pivotal point in the narrative, highlighting themes of caste prejudice and the pursuit of status.
