Description
Lin is a young orphan rendered mute after witnessing bandits murder her family in a post-nuclear war wasteland. She serves prisoners in a small village, where she first encounters Kenshiro. He restores her voice using Hokuto Shinken techniques and saves her from assault by gang leader Zeed. This act cements her unwavering faith in Kenshiro, and she becomes his traveling companion alongside the thief Bat.
Despite her youth, Lin exhibits compassion and bravery throughout Kenshiro's journey. Captured by the Golan organization, which grooms young girls for a master race, she is rescued again by Kenshiro. Her loyalty remains steadfast as they traverse the desolate landscape.
Following a significant time skip after warlord Raoh's death, Lin and Bat co-found the Hokuto Army during Kenshiro's absence, leading resistance against oppressive regimes like Jakoh's Imperial Army. Lin is later revealed as an adopted child and twin sister to Lui, the true Celestial Empress. Due to succession laws, Jakoh orders her execution, but warrior Falco spares her and takes her to safety with his surviving family.
After Jakoh's defeat, Lin is kidnapped by his son Jask (renamed Tiger in anime) and taken to the brutal warrior nation, the Land of Shura. Rescued by Kenshiro, she insists on accompanying him deeper into the territory. There, she is captured by Kaioh, overlord of Hokuto Ryūken, who intends her to bear his child to cleanse his bloodline. When she resists, Kaioh uses the Shikanhaku pressure point technique to force her to love the first person she sees upon awakening. Hyoh, Kaioh's brother freed from mental control by Kenshiro, sacrifices himself to protect her from Shura warriors. Bat later arrives in Shura to aid them, witnessing Kaioh's defeat.
In the conclusion, Bat uses his limited Hokuto Shinken knowledge to erase Lin's memories, hoping she can start anew with Kenshiro. Kenshiro declines and encourages Bat to stay with her, leading Lin to develop romantic feelings for Bat. When Bat faces mortal injury fighting villain Bolge, he urges Lin to be with Kenshiro. She initially honors this but returns to Bat, discovering Kenshiro's healing techniques saved his life.
Within the continuity of *Shin Kyūseishu Densetsu Hokuto no Ken: Raoh Den Junai no Shō*, Lin travels with Kenshiro and Bat to Bat's former village. During events involving Holy Emperor Souther's child enslavement and pyramid construction, she assists in transporting the injured warrior Reina to Toki's village for medical treatment after Reina escapes Souther's forces. Her role remains supportive, reflecting her established compassion and connection to Kenshiro's mission.
