After Jay's capture, Lin aids his escape from a syndicate safehouse. This aid is a calculated betrayal of both Jay and the syndicate itself. Lin's goal is to personally capture Dorothy to claim the full reward money and elevate his status, eliminating the need to share credit or profits.

Following the escape, Lin lures Jay to an apartment under false pretenses. There, he poisons Jay and tries to further subdue him with a taser.
