Oryu is a young girl possessing psychic abilities who travels with her Great Dane companion, Hachiguro. The dog occasionally serves as her mode of transportation. Her telekinetic powers manifest when she stops a baseball mid-air to avoid being hit and propels it back toward the children who threw it, leaving them visibly surprised.

She encounters Jiro playing guitar by a river and senses something unusual about him, prompting her cautious approach. Later, she informs Saburo Kazeta and his friends that Jiro felt "like one of us," recognizing shared atypical traits.

Oryu actively participates in the group’s psychic activities. When detective Hanpei Hattori follows Saburo’s group, she uses Hachiguro to startle him into temporary flight. After Hanpei returns and explains his investigation, Oryu reveals Jiro’s riverside location. Her dog later grows agitated and growls at Jiro during his malfunction, suggesting Hachiguro senses anomalies tied to psychic or mechanical disturbances.

Her interactions consistently position her within Saburo’s circle, where she contributes through her abilities and perceptiveness regarding environmental anomalies.
