Description
Originally a mountain youkai, Hiiragi was captured by humans and magically bound to guard a storehouse. During her imprisonment, a young Shuuichi Natori bandaged her injured hand, an act of kindness that left a lasting impression on her despite her stoic nature.

Years later, Natori, now an exorcist assigned to eliminate her, did not recognize Hiiragi. Motivated by gratitude for his past kindness, she intended to let him exorcise her to advance his career. Takashi Natsume intervened during the ritual, causing the attack to strike both of them. This freed Hiiragi from her bindings but cracked her mask. Liberated, she chose to become Natori's shiki, pledging loyalty and addressing him as "master".

As Natori's shiki, Hiiragi serves with quiet dedication, aiding his exorcism work. Her reserved personality and emotional restraint lead to blunt statements that sometimes unintentionally cause discomfort by candidly pointing out vulnerabilities. She exhibits subtle care, particularly worrying about Natsume's safety. She discreetly follows him during dangers and uses her abilities to draw protective symbols on his arm. Her actions result in socially awkward moments, like appearing unexpectedly in private settings such as hot springs, flustering Natsume though she acts without malice.

Her relationship with Natori is defined by unwavering loyalty rooted in their childhood encounter. With Natsume, she initially displayed rudeness and irritation, criticizing his interference and refusing to share her name. Their dynamic evolved into mutual respect and fondness after recognizing shared protective instincts. Her interactions with Madara remain undefined, though she acknowledges his power during collaborations to aid Natsume or Natori.

Hiiragi's abilities include swordsmanship for combat and spiritual magic like inscribing barrier symbols. Her cracked mask remains a visible reminder of her near-exorcism and liberation. She first appeared in the manga's Volume 2, Chapter 7, and Episode 9 of the anime's first season.
