OVA
Description
Kuki-sama, a benevolent demon in human guise, channels her spiritual energy to sustain the flight of the flying battleship Amanohara. Her three Shikigami familiars—Koushi, Soushi, and Oushi, manifested as young girls—aid her duties, first appearing in the anime before joining the PlayStation 2 game’s updated rerelease. To maintain the ship’s operations, her powers demand regular replenishment through relaxation in an onsen or intimate interactions with protagonist Shintaro Umakai. This necessity intertwines her needs with the crew’s activities, as seen when an assumed liaison with Shintaro was later clarified as a back massage from crewmate Sumi Ichijouji, reflecting the ambiguous nature of her recharging methods.

During a festival-themed OVA episode, her brief absence compels the crew to host an elaborate formal ball to coax her return, highlighting her vital role in both morale and functionality. The episode also features her joining a whimsical maracas dance with the cast amid floral scenery, blending her into the group’s comedic moments. Across all adaptations, her character remains anchored to her role as the Amanohara’s power source, engaging in mission-driven or lighthearted interactions without exploration of her origins or personal history beyond immediate contributions to the ship’s endeavors.
