Description
Kukuri acts as the God of the Land for Hakusan Shrine in Kamioka, purifying curses and safeguarding regional stability. Her form shifts between adult and childlike states depending on power levels, though she consistently possesses green hair, blue eyes, and wears an orange haori over black hakama. Financial hardship forces her into extreme poverty, relying on sparse donations and occasional menial work performed by her raven familiar, Kokuyou. This destitution leads them to transient living in parks or with allies like Kazuya Kagami after their shrine's destruction.

Personality-wise, Kukuri balances humility with divine pride, treating humans respectfully despite her status. She exhibits diligence in duties ranging from curse purification to household chores, yet displays childishness through clumsiness, scatterbrained tendencies, and vulnerability to teasing—especially from the tsukumogami Kiriha, whose lewd provocations often reduce Kukuri to flustered panic. She demonstrates fierce protectiveness toward allies like Kazuya and Kokuyou, risking self-weakening to erect protective barriers. Romantic feelings for Kazuya surface repeatedly, complicated by her earlier intimate history with his mother, Kanaka Kagami.

Historically, Kukuri originated as one of three thousand gods from Mount Kaga before ascending to God of the Land status for Kamioka, receiving a celestial stone shard implant. She collaborated with skilled exorcists like Shinkurou Shishizaki and later Kanaka, though conflicts arose when Kiriha humiliated Shishizaki to force his departure. Years later, following Kanaka's apparent death and Kazuya's memory seal to suppress grief-induced amasogi, Kukuri deduced Kanaka's survival and battled her possessed form. Though victorious, she required Kazuya and Kiriha to deliver the final blow to avoid curse backlash, leading to Kanaka's temporary demise.

In later arcs, Kukuri's clone body stole mizuyokan offerings from a miniature shrine near Tsuzura Temple, prompting Kiriha and Kazuya to confront her at Ookane Shirahagi Shrine. After retaliating for their trap by spanking and binding them, she revealed Kamioka Kukuri's preserved body, explaining its soul was trapped in Yomi. She tasked Kazuya and Kiriha with retrieving it, providing the "Final Water Sending Ritual" to facilitate their journey and appointing her attendant Shirane Shirahabane as their guide despite objections. During Kazuya and Shirane's duel, Kukuri intervened upon noting Kazuya's dangerous hesitation, halting the fight with water encasement and reaffirming her plan.

Kukuri commands extensive water-based abilities: "Minazuchi" summons torrential downpours (weakened via projections), "Slicing Waterfowl" and "Striking Water Rope" manipulate water offensively, "Water-Cut Passage" enables long-distance teleportation, "Final Water Sending Ritual" induces near-death states for Yomi access, and "Water Reading, Perfect Mirror" uses puddles for limited future divination. Non-canonical OVA appearances depict her in comedic scenarios, such as bathhouse tickle fights with Kiriha and collaborative efforts to manage Kazuya's paralysis-induced incontinence.

Kukuri was killed by the resurrected Kanaka during the "Mayoiga" conflict, with her stone shard extracted. Residual fragments hinted at potential revival, later explored when the Kukuri of Shirahagi coordinated efforts to resurrect her Kamioka counterpart via Yomi.
