Description
Claire Cruz, born Nina Viento on February 21st, 1844 in the Balsteros Empire, manifested supernatural wind control abilities from childhood, resulting in her being ostracized as a witch. During the Wind Revolution, she adopted the Nina Viento identity and became a revolutionary figurehead. Her wind powers proved decisive in overthrowing the empire, including executing Emperor Gregorio La Hire, but using them caused her to lose these abilities shortly after the revolution's success.
After the revolution, she concealed her identity as Nina Viento and took the name Claire Cruz. Under the guardianship of Admiral Luis de Alarcon and Countess Ulshyrra, she was appointed Governor of the floating island of Isla. In exchange for accepting this role, Luis arranged her enrollment as a pilot trainee in the "Van Whyl" class at Cadoques High School's Aerial Division, accompanied by her bodyguard, Ignacio Axis.
At Cadoques High, Claire developed a significant relationship with fellow trainee Kal-el Albus, who was unaware of her true identity. Their initial meeting occurred when Kal-el repaired her bicycle, sparking mutual romantic interest. They became flying partners and shared intimate experiences, including being stranded together at sea. Their feelings culminated in a kiss after surviving an aerial battle against the Sky Clan. Their relationship faced a profound crisis when Claire discovered Kal-el was actually Karl La Hire, the former crown prince whose family was destroyed in the Wind Revolution, while Kal-el simultaneously learned Claire was Nina Viento. This revelation caused Claire immense distress, leading her to withdraw from school and reject her Claire Cruz identity.
During a critical battle against the Sky Clan aboard the warship Luna Barco in her Nina Viento persona, Claire publicly apologized to Kal-el for her role in his mother's death and reaffirmed her love for him as Claire Cruz. Kal-el forgave her, citing his mother's teachings. This prompted the spontaneous return of Claire's wind powers, enabling her to save the Luna Barco.
As part of treaty negotiations with the Sky Clan, who viewed her as a prophesied savior, Claire agreed to accompany them to their territory near the Holy Spring to fulfill their religious prophecy. Despite Kal-el's attempt to rescue her, she chose to go voluntarily, believing it was her personal battle. Before departing, she gave Kal-el her Saint Aldista necklace as a keepsake. Kal-el vowed to return for her, initiating a mission to reunite.
Claire possesses aubergine (dark purple) hair and eyes, typically styled shoulder-length. At the time of the Isla expedition, she was 15 years old and frequently seen in her Cadoques High school uniform.
