TV-Series
Description
Mitsuki Sarue serves as the human alias for Sariel, an archangel of the Church's Execution Inquisition from Ente Isla. As Sariel, he acts as an antagonist assigned to eliminate Emilia Justina (Emi Yusa) and Satan (Sadao Maou). He adopts the "Mitsuki Sarue" identity to infiltrate human society in Tokyo, posing as the manager of a Sentucky Fried Chicken franchise in Hatagaya that directly competes with Maou's workplace. This cover enables intelligence gathering on Emilia and Satan.

A second-generation archangel implied to be over 10,000 years old, Sariel served Heaven and collaborated with fellow inquisitor Crestia Bell (Suzuno Kamazuki) on Ente Isla. Learning of Gabriel's loss of the Yesod Sephira prompted Sariel to volunteer for its retrieval, leading him to Earth. His mission centers on recovering Emilia's sacred sword, "Better Half," for the Church.

Sariel wields a large scythe and commands the "Wicked Light of the Fallen," a unique power that nullifies sacred-based abilities and renders Emilia's holy attacks ineffective. Additional capabilities include flight via wings that expand near the moon, teleportation, memory manipulation (used to forge his human identity), barrier creation, and energy projection. His magic draws strength from lunar proximity, increasing inversely with distance to the moon. This dependence forms a tactical weakness.

As Mitsuki Sarue, he possesses light blue hair and purple eyes, typically concealed behind sunglasses, along with an orange paintball stain around his right eye from an early encounter with Emilia. He wears heavy cologne to mask the paint's odor. His archangel form manifests silver hair, white robes, an olive branch headband, and functional wings. Personality-wise, Sariel displays narcissism rooted in his angelic status and overtly perverse tendencies; he harasses women including Rika Suzuki and Chiho Sasaki, once threatening to "investigate" Chiho by stripping her. His attention later shifts to an obsessive fixation on Mayumi Kisaki, Maou's human manager, leading to frequent dining at MgRonald's to observe her.

Over the series, Sariel transitions from a primary antagonist to a comedic secondary character. Following an initial defeat by Satan, his influence wanes but he remains in Tokyo. His obsession with Kisaki causes significant weight gain from daily MgRonald's visits, succeeded by weight loss after she bans him. He eventually marries Kisaki, and they have a daughter named Yuzuki Sarue. Despite his reduced antagonistic role, he intermittently aids other angels like Gabriel while maintaining his unsettling demeanor.
