TV-Series
Description
Coffret is a fairy from the Heartcatch Pretty Cure series who partners with the heroine Cure Marine. His name is derived from the French word for a small decorative box or jewelry case, reflecting the series' thematic blend of fashion and floral motifs. He is a male fairy who originally resided at the Tree of Hearts, a sacred entity connected to the Heart Flowers of all people. When the Tree of Hearts came under attack by the Desert Apostles, Coffret and his twin fairy companion, Chypre, were sent to the human world with the mission of finding new warriors to become Pretty Cure.
Physically, Coffret is small and round with a predominantly white body, large brown eyes, and cyan heart-shaped markings on his forehead, ears, and tail. He wears a blue spherical ornament that holds his floppy ears in place, distinguishing him from Chypre, whose ears are often depicted as upright. A light blue, frilly collar with a silver heart charm is secured around his neck.
Coffret possesses a personality that is both eager and notably blunt. He is honest to a fault, which can make his speech come across as rude or overly direct. This trait is balanced by an excitable and enthusiastic nature, especially when it comes to his duties as a fairy. He has a tendency to act spoiled and shows a somewhat childish side, particularly in his interactions with his human partner, Erika Kurumi. The two share a very similar temperament, being high-energy and outspoken, which leads to a relationship that is both affectionate and quarrelsome. They bicker frequently, often acting more like siblings, with Coffret taking on the role of an annoying but fiercely loyal little brother. Despite their squabbles, Coffret holds great faith in Erika's abilities and admires her strength, once even physically attacking an enemy to protect her during a critical battle.
Initially, Coffret and Chypre sought refuge with Hanasaki Tsubomi, who would become Cure Blossom. Coffret was originally uncertain about Tsubomi's capabilities, having witnessed her early struggles as a Pretty Cure, but grew to respect her as she became stronger. His primary role, however, solidified when he discovered that Erika was destined to be his partner. He possesses a Pretty Cure Seed that is essential for Erika to activate her Heart Perfume and transform into Cure Marine. In addition to enabling transformation, Coffret has the ability to transform into a flight cape, allowing Cure Marine to fly. When not on missions or interacting with humans, he and Chypre often disguise themselves as inanimate plush toys to conceal their identities.
Coffret also shows deep reverence for elder fairies, regarding the wise Coupe with great admiration and referring to a predecessor named Cologne with respect. Throughout the story, Coffret demonstrates growth in his courage and sense of responsibility. Initially dependent on others for guidance, he develops a fierce determination to protect his partner and fight alongside her, proving that even a small fairy can be a source of great power and bravery in the final confrontation against the Desert Apostles.
