Description
Yuri Tsukikage, originally the solitary Cure Moonlight, guarded the Heart Tree before the main story. She became a Pretty Cure while seeking her missing father in France with her fairy partner, Cologne. Early on, Cure Moonlight operated alone, fueled by overconfidence and a desire to shield others from suffering, believing she alone could defeat the Desert Apostles. This resolve shattered during a critical battle at the Heart Tree against Dark Cure and General Sabaku. Cologne sacrificed himself to protect her from Sabaku's attack. Witnessing his death caused Yuri's Heart Flower to wilt completely and her Pretty Cure Seed to break, stripping her transformation ability and plunging her into deep grief and guilt.

As a civilian, 17-year-old Yuri attends Myoudou Academy as a second-year student. She has dark purple hair and eyes and wears glasses. Her typical outfits include her school uniform or casual wear like a pastel purple top with a lilac cardigan and denim capris. Academically gifted, she ranks first in her class and shares notes with her frequently absent best friend, Momoka Kurumi, a model. After Cologne's death, Yuri adopted a cold, distant, and negative personality, especially toward the new Pretty Cures, Tsubomi Hanasaki (Cure Blossom) and Erika Kurumi (Cure Marine), viewing them as inexperienced. This aloofness masked her trauma and self-blame.

Transformed as Cure Moonlight, her hair lengthens into lavender, adorned with two purple roses. She wears a silver and white dress with a dark purple bow, a white petal-like bracelet on her left wrist, and an opera-length dark purple glove on her right arm. Her boots are silver with dark purple bows, and a purple rose bearing the Heartcatch insignia accents her chest. Her enhanced Super Silhouette form features longer hair, a predominantly white and lavender outfit, a white glove, and heart-shaped rainbow wings. Her theme colors are silver and purple (wisteria), reflecting her lunar connection.

Her redemption began when she intervened non-transformed as Dark Cure attacked the new Cures, forcing Dark Cure's retreat. Later, Tsubomi, Erika, and Itsuki Myoudouin (Cure Sunshine) urged her to rejoin the fight, but she refused, revealing her wilted Heart Flower as proof. Learning Cologne's spirit resided at the Heart Tree and seeing her friends endangered by Dark Cure again, Yuri begged the Tree for another chance. Using the Heart Pot and Heart Seeds collected by the other Cures, she regenerated her Pretty Cure Seed, transforming back into Cure Moonlight. Her triumphant return showcased superior combat experience as she battled Dark Cure to a standstill and effortlessly defeated the Desert Apostles' generals.

Rejoining the team softened Yuri. She became more approachable, supportive, and strategically vital in battle, often directing the others. She formed respectful bonds with Tsubomi, tolerated Erika's exuberance, and reconciled with Itsuki after initial criticism over endangering a fairy partner. Her combat style is aggressive and precise, utilizing attacks like Moonlight Reflection (reflecting projectiles) and Moonlight Silver Impact (a concentrated energy strike). Her purification finishers are Silver Forte Wave and the combined Floral Power Fortissimo. In Super Silhouette, she gains the group attack Heartcatch Orchestra and the ultimate fusion Mugen Silhouette for the final battle against Dune.

Yuri's backstory reveals deeper tragedy. Her father, Tsukikage Hideaki, disappeared searching for the Heart Tree and was later revealed as the Desert Apostle general Sabaku. During the final battle, Sabaku sacrificed himself to protect Yuri from Dark Cure, who was revealed as Yuri's non-biological sister, created as her "shadow." After Sabaku's death, Yuri kept his fate secret from her mother, Haruna, to spare her further pain. Haruna had previously turned into a Desertrian due to depression over Hideaki's disappearance, marking Cure Moonlight's first battle.

In the spin-off *HeartCatch Pretty Cure!☆Reborn*, Yuri is depicted as the twin sister of Tsukikage Rina (Cure Moonbeam), serving as her "light." Yuri had subconsciously guided Rina since childhood. After Rina became Cologne's new partner, Yuri accepted this, expressing happiness despite lingering grief. When attacked and turned into a Desertrian herself, Yuri was purified by the Cures and joyfully embraced her newfound sisterly bond with Rina. As Cure Moonlight here, her transformation is limited to five minutes, and she can only use offensive sub-attacks like Moonlight Silver Impact, lacking purification abilities.

Her birthday is May 19th (Taurus). Her Heart Flower is the lily, symbolizing unmatched beauty. She temporarily wields the Heart Pot instead of perfume for transformation. She habitually lists emotions like "Courage... Love... Friendship..." and her catchphrase is "I'll keep fighting, for everyone's heart!"
