Description
Erika Kurumi is a fourteen-year-old student attending Myoudou Academy who lives above her family's fashion boutique, Fairy Drop, alongside her parents and older sister, Momoka. Her father is a world-class photographer, and her mother, a retired知名 model, owns the shop. Growing up surrounded by fashion, Erika developed a deep passion for clothing and dreams of becoming a fashion designer who helps others feel beautiful and stylish. She has a particular skill for color therapy, using the hues and combinations of outfits to interpret a person's emotions and mood. Erika's partner fairy is a creature named Coffret, whom she treats with an affectionate, sisterly care.

Erika possesses a vibrant, energetic, and highly expressive personality that makes her a natural leader in social situations. She is direct and says exactly what is on her mind, which can sometimes come across as nosy or impatient, but this honesty stems from a place of genuine openness and friendliness. While she can be impulsive, lazy with her homework, and act childish, she also has a remarkably brave and protective side. She is quick to leap into action and defends her friends fiercely against any threat, often acting as the emotional anchor for her more timid partner, Tsubomi Hanasaki. When Tsubomi is scared or stressed, Erika is typically the one to offer comfort and reassurance.

Despite her cheerful exterior, Erika struggles with a deep-seated sense of inferiority, primarily directed toward her older sister, Momoka. Both sisters once aspired to be models, a dream inspired by their mother, but it was Momoka who achieved early success in the career, leaving Erika feeling inadequate and jealous. This unresolved envy caused her to abandon her own modeling ambitions to focus on fashion design, a path she could claim as her own. Her heart flower, a white cyclamen, visibly changes to a deep red whenever she experiences intense jealousy, visually representing her internal turmoil. A significant part of her personal growth involves confronting these feelings and learning to appreciate her sister's strengths without resentment, ultimately finding her own unique identity and value.

As a Pretty Cure, Erika transforms into Cure Marine, a warrior whose theme is the sea and the daisy flower. Unlike her partner Tsubomi, who was hesitant and fearful, Erika took to her duties with natural athleticism and confidence, mastering her transformation and basic combat skills almost immediately. Her fighting style is aggressive and direct, preferring to charge headfirst at enemies. She possesses a diverse array of water-based attacks. Her signature moves include Marine Shoot, where she releases countless small, high-speed water droplets; Marine Impact, a close-range shockwave emitted from her palm; and Marine Dive, a powerful heel kick from a great height. She also possesses a close-range explosion ability called Marine Dynamite and is famously known for her unconventional yet effective Pretty Cure Forehead Punch, a powerful headbutt. For a purification finisher, she uses the Pretty Cure Blue Forte Wave with her Marine Tact, summoning a large water-blue flower bud to cleanse a corrupted enemy. Later in the series, she gains upgraded forms like Super Cure Marine and Rainbow Cure Marine, which enhance her power and allow her to participate in powerful group attacks such as the Heartcatch Orchestra.

Erika's most crucial relationship is with her partner, Tsubomi Hanasaki. Erika took the shy and introverted new student under her wing from their first day of class, and their friendship forms the emotional core of the story. While initially seen as pushy, Erika's persistent friendship helped draw Tsubomi out of her shell, giving her the confidence she needed. In return, Tsubomi's calmer, more thoughtful nature helps temper Erika's impetuousness, teaching her patience and empathy. Their dynamic evolves from a forced partnership into a deep, unbreakable bond, with Erika frequently taking the lead in battle and encouraging Tsubomi to find her own strength. Her relationship with her older sister also undergoes significant development. After a series of conflicts and a pivotal moment where Erika must save Momoka, the sisters move from rivalry to mutual respect and understanding, healing the rift that jealousy had created.
