Description
Gentoku Ryūbi leads Seito Academy despite initially possessing minimal combat ability, strategic intellect, and leadership experience. She has green eyes, long brown hair usually styled in dual ponytails, and measurements of 96-61-92. Academically a second-year E-rank Toushi, her personality shifts dramatically between states: normally kind, protective of friends, and gentle, her dragon form—unleashed by emotional distress or the Dragon Jade—awakens a merciless, sadistic, and wildly destructive nature.

She inherited the soul of Liu Bei and houses the Lightning Dragon (Rairyuu). Its initial possession three years before the manga nearly drove her to fatal self-harm and critically injured intervening friends Kanu Unchou and Chouhi Ekitoku. In the anime, her first transformation occurs later, triggered by Ryomou's Dragon Jade during Kyosho's assault on Seito, forcing her allies to imprison her until the dragon receded. Kanu's subsequent capture by Kyosho spurred Ryūbi to accept leadership and start mastering her dragon powers.

Her development progresses through conflict. At the Battle of Chibi, her partially controlled dragon form challenges Sousou Moutoku's demon state but falters until Sonsaku Hakufu arrives; combining their water and thunder dragons, they defeat Sousou, cementing Ryūbi's alliance with Nanyo and her growth as a decisive leader. *Great Guardians* explores her dynamic with Kanu, who harbors unreciprocated romantic feelings. Ryūbi's frustration with Kanu peaks during an incident involving the possessed Ryofu Housen, leading to Ryūbi's own manipulation and temporary possession by Saji Genpou. While possessed, she nearly kills Kanu but is restored by Kanu's emotional confession, deepening their bond.

Later, in *Xtreme Xecutor*, she embraces a more responsible role at Seito High, notably rescuing and sheltering the injured Bachou Mouki. *Extravaganza Epoch* sees her investigating Magatama incidents alongside allies like Hakufu and Koumei, confronting western warriors who brand their defeated foes, highlighting her sustained engagement in regional conflicts.

Her dragon's power remains tied to her emotions, especially when friends are threatened, but she gradually gains greater control across all media. The manga emphasizes earlier, more severe dragon trauma, while the anime delays this to align with her leadership arc. Consistent traits include clumsiness, a love of reading, and an aversion to swimming.
