Description
Kuroe is a teenage magical girl living in Takarazaki City. She is a 15-year-old third-year middle school student standing 156 cm tall. In her civilian life, she has short black hair styled in two round buns tied with red or pink ribbons, purple eyes, and wears a school uniform: a white collared shirt, red ribbon, and a black suspender skirt with white stripes. Her magical girl outfit consists of a long black cloak with a hood featuring grey stripes, a sleeveless cropped top revealing her midriff, a double-layered skirt, pink socks, and black sandals. An indigo circular Soul Gem is strapped to her right thigh, and she wields twin purple scepters.
Kuroe made her contract with Kyubey by wishing to "go out with the person I love," a relationship that ended before the main story, leaving her regretful. She occasionally fights witches alongside Iroha Tamaki but primarily maintains an acquaintance-level connection focused on exchanging information. Deep anxiety about life-or-death battles fuels her desire for salvation from being a magical girl. Learning about Kamihama City's rumors, Kuroe becomes fixated on the location. She eventually joins the Wings of the Magius as a Black Feather. Tasked by Nemu Hiiragi with locating the rumor of the eternal sakura and protecting Iroha, Kuroe demonstrates an ability to create physical barriers in Kamihama, used strategically in battles to immobilize Doppels or buy allies time. She also performs a Connect technique with Yachiyo, merging their weapons to enhance combat power.
Intense guilt haunts Kuroe over a past incident where she refused a grief seed to a magical girl in a white robe holding a white cat. This girl later appears in her hallucinations. Facing repeated traumas accelerates Kuroe's psychological deterioration. During critical battles, her inner turmoil manifests as her Doppel—Ichizo, the Doppel of Escape—resembling a nighthawk with heavy mud wings.
