Hiyori is an elementary school girl whose grandmother passed away, leaving her in a state of continuous tears. To console her, Hiyori's father built a humanoid robot named Wasimo, crafted in the grandmother's likeness and complete with dentures. Wasimo walks at a pace faster than a snail yet slower than a rhinoceros beetle, but holds the surprising ability to outrun a bullet train.
