Description
Jirō (also known as Genbanojō) leads the Natsugawa Genzaemon Troupe, a traveling entertainment group featured in the anime movie "Genbanojō." During a performance in Kikyōgahara, Shin Province, he encounters a village girl named Hana. After the show, Jirō spots Hana carrying oyaki—his favorite food—and accidentally transforms into a fox from sheer excitement, revealing his supernatural nature. This exposure also uncovers that his companions, O-Natsu and Shinzaemon, share the same fox-like ability to assume human forms.
To ensure Hana’s silence, Jirō negotiates a pact: he will grant her one wish in exchange for concealing their secret. Hana requests that her elderly great-grandmother, Chiyo (whom she calls "Granny"), witness cherry blossoms. Jirō agrees to fulfill this wish. As the troupe’s authoritative leader, he orchestrates their performances while navigating the consequences of his accidental revelation, driving a narrative centered on honoring his bargain and safeguarding his hidden identity.
