Description
Masataka Ninomiya captains Border's top-ranked B-Rank unit, Ninomiya Squad, following a demotion from his prior position in the fourth-ranked A-Rank squad. This demotion resulted when his former sniper, Mirai Hatohara, illegally supplied Triggers to civilians and vanished alongside Rinji Amatori—an incident prompting Ninomiya to suspect Rinji influenced Hatohara.

Physically tall with brown eyes and neck-length brown hair featuring a middle-parted fringe, his Trion body materializes as a black three-piece suit worn with the jacket unbuttoned.

Ninomiya exhibits a consistently blunt and harsh demeanor, delivering unfiltered criticism toward competitors, colleagues, and former teammates. He values ability above all, insisting praise should only target those demonstrably superior to the complimenter—exemplified by his dismissal of Osamu Mikumo as a "small-fry who gnaws at tactics." Despite this apparent arrogance, he displays perceptiveness in combat, a slight competitive streak, and polite willingness to seek assistance from those he deems inferior when necessary. A contradiction emerges between his cold exterior and subtle care: he builds snowmen representing his original team—including Hatohara—after a stalemate, maintains consideration for her disappearance beyond his teammates' level, and chose black business suits for his squad to reject Border's "cosplay-like" uniforms, inadvertently making them visually distinctive.

Renowned as Border's number one Shooter and overall second-ranked combatant, Ninomiya possesses the organization's third-highest Trion capacity. His combat style emphasizes overwhelming force and relentless pursuit, cementing his reputation as an implacable adversary. He employs non-standard pyramid-shaped Asteroid bullets and fights with hands in pockets, projecting composed lethality. His high standing stems from innate talent and transformative mentorship under Haruaki Azuma, who reshaped him from an unskilled brawler into a strategic fighter after Masafumi Shinoda assigned him to Azuma’s squad.

During the B-Rank Wars, Ninomiya Squad decisively defeated Tamakoma Second. Ninomiya personally eliminated Kitazoe, blocked Ema’s sniper shot, defeated Yūma Kuga, and engaged Kageura and Azuma in a stalemate that secured victory via timeout. He later directed Border HQ defenses against the Galopoula invasion.

Ninomiya maintains complex relationships: a competitive rivalry with former Azuma-squadmate Kako, mutual animosity with Kei Tachikawa, and foundational respect for mentor Haruaki Azuma. He approached Tamakoma Second seeking information on Rinji Amatori and shared Hatohara’s story, suspecting a connection between the events.

His known preferences include yakiniku, ginger ale, and individuals demonstrating talent.
