Description
Kai Minamisawa is an Attacker and a member of the B-Rank squad known as Ikoma Unit. He is characterized by a laid-back and cheerful demeanor, often seen with a wide smile, but this easygoing nature is paired with a pronounced tendency toward recklessness. He is easily excitable and demonstrates a profound enjoyment of combat, which frequently leads him to rush headfirst into battle without waiting for his teammates. This impulsiveness can cause him to ignore strategic advice, a flaw that opponents have successfully exploited. However, when he finds himself in a difficult situation, he is capable of regaining his composure, heeding warnings, and even employing deception to navigate the odds.

As a native of Mikado City, Minamisawa is the sole member of his squad who does not speak with a Kansai dialect, instead using standard Japanese. Among his personal interests, he is known to excel at karaoke and enjoys foods such as hotate scallops, cheese hamburger steaks, and meat-stuffed bell peppers.

Within the narrative, Minamisawa participates in the B-Rank Wars, where his combat skills are put to the test against other squads. He is depicted as a capable fighter whose individual score has temporarily exceeded 8000 points, placing him in the master class for Attackers. Despite this proficiency, his reckless nature proves to be a consistent liability. In a significant match, he ignores his operator's warning to regroup, is caught off-guard by an enemy's Salamander bombardment, and is swiftly eliminated, after which he immediately expresses regret for his mistake. In later battles, he learns to retreat from unfavorable situations and demonstrates tactical thinking, such as attempting to manipulate an opponent into a temporary alliance against a more dangerous foe.

Minamisawa appears to have a strong admiration for his captain, Ikoma, and often seeks his approval with enthusiastic outbursts. His teammates, including operator Maori Hosoi, are frequently frustrated by his explosive energy and his habit of charging off on his own, though he remains a valued member of the unit.

In combat, Minamisawa wields the Kogetsu, which he is skilled enough to handle proficiently with one hand despite its weight, though he will use both hands for parrying or critical strikes. He is a versatile user of defensive Triggers, employing Shield extensively in various shapes, from standard hexagons to full spherical guards, to protect against linear attacks, homing projectiles, and explosions. His reactions are notably swift, allowing him to switch to a defensive stance quickly. He also uses Grasshopper to control his positioning in a fight, creating multiple pads to change direction at high speed for both pursuit and escape. His typical loadout includes Bagworm to conceal himself from radar when needed. Despite his obvious talent, his primary weakness remains his tendency to be carried away by his own enthusiasm, which can override his better judgment and lead to his defeat.
