Description
Kashima Ōka, captain of the Takemikazuchi Familia, is the sole survivor when bandits destroyed his Far East village. Takemikazuchi discovered and took him in as the first child at his mountain shrine. Later orphaned arrivals—Yamato Mikoto, Hitachi Chigusa, and Asuka—joined him, forming a family unit where Ōka, the eldest, naturally became the leader. They befriended Sanjōno Haruhime by sneaking her out of her mansion nightly to play, continuing even after it damaged relations between her father and the shrine. Roughly two years before the main events, the Familia moved to Orario to earn money for the shrine's upkeep.

At 17, Ōka is a tall (190 cm), muscular human male with black hair and black eyes. He typically dons a lavender, red, gold, and black kamishimo top, brown pants tucked under long white bandages, black boots, and matching lower arm guards. He often carries a double-ended spear or his primary weapon, the battleaxe Kougou.

Ōka possesses unbreakable loyalty and protectiveness toward his Familia, viewing them as family due to their shared childhood. He prioritizes their safety above all, willing to make morally difficult decisions like endangering strangers during dungeon expeditions. Typically calm and serious, especially in combat where he gives clear instructions, he also exhibits a perverted side, openly expressing interest in peeping on women and stating preferences like Tiona Hiryute's slender figure. Despite this, he remains oblivious to romantic advances, particularly Chigusa's feelings. His leadership blends approachability with sternness, and he readily accepts blame to shield his Familia.

A Level 2 adventurer specializing in frontline combat, Ōka wields heavy weapons like axes and shields to protect his team. Trained in multiple martial arts styles by Takemikazuchi, he excels in coordinated teamwork. His signature weapon, Kougou, is a second-class battleaxe forged by Welf Crozzo from Valmarth mineral, amplifying his capabilities to defeat monsters typically requiring Level 3 adventurers. His notable technique, "Koku," is a powerful finisher; augmented by Haruhime Sanjōno's level-boosting magic during the 27th-floor expedition, he used it to decapitate the Amphis Baena boss.

Significant actions include the Monster Pass incident, where he diverted monsters toward Bell Cranel's party to ensure his injured Familia member Chigusa escaped, later apologizing while explaining his Familia-first priority. He helped rescue Bell's group from the 18th floor and fought alongside them against the Black Goliath, risking his life to protect Bell. Temporarily viewing Bell as an enemy under Freya's charm magic, he sought reconciliation afterward. He served as a scout but was defeated early in the War Game arc. A crossover event with *Goblin Slayer* revealed his deep-seated anger toward goblins.

Relationships are central: he shares a protective older brother, sibling-like bond with Mikoto, Chigusa, and Haruhime. His dynamic with Welf Crozzo began contentiously but evolved into mutual respect and camaraderie, earning him the nickname "Big Guy" from Welf. He maintains a respectful and dutiful connection with his deity, Takemikazuchi.
