Description
Mito, an alien with a perpetually childlike stature of three feet, relies on her mechanized "mail suit" to mask her true form, presenting herself as a human adult while augmenting her combat prowess. Her species matures with shifting gender identities until adulthood and lives over 10,000 years—traits influencing her half-human son, Aoi, whose inherited genetics cause temporary gender instability before settling as female. Widowed after the death of her human partner, Kagero, Mito’s grief and longing to mend her fractured bond with Aoi fuel her endeavors.
A feared space pirate, she clashes with the Galactic Patrol, outmaneuvering capture through audacious tactics. Though notorious, her maternal instincts eclipse her rogue persona. When Aoi uncovers her alien identity, their strained relationship pushes her to reconcile trust while shielding him from danger.
Her piratical actions inadvertently catalyze Aoi’s rise as galactic queen in the first season. By the second, she pivots to advising his rule, confronting political strife and foes like the unhinged ex-queen Hikari. Her combat expertise—wielding energy blades and commanding mechanized spacecraft—anchors their struggles.
The mail suit’s flaw—a dorsal sensor that deactivates the armor if struck—periodically leaves her vulnerable. Despite her diminutive frame inviting underestimation, she combats doubt with unyielding tenacity.
A 2000 theatrical release further explores her narrative, though specifics remain undisclosed. Beyond documented media, her presence in spin-offs or OVAs is unrecorded.
