Lisa Ortiz is an American voice actress and voice director with a career spanning over two decades, recognized for her extensive work in English adaptations of anime. She has lent her voice to a wide array of characters across numerous series, films, and video games, and has also served as a voice director on long-running franchises.
Ortiz's entry into voice acting began with a casting call for the anime Record of Lodoss War, which she attended at a friend's invitation. This opportunity launched a career that would see her become a prominent figure in the industry, working with various studios including SDI Media, NYAV Post, and 4Kids Entertainment. Her early work included the role of Gym Leader Sabrina in the first season of the Pokémon anime. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in theatre from Hofstra University and is the president of Noise of O Productions, LLC, an audio post-production house.
Ortiz is perhaps best known for two iconic roles. She provided the English voice for the fiery and resourceful Lina Inverse in the beloved fantasy series The Slayers, including its various sequels and OVAs. She also voiced Amy Rose, the energetic hedgehog, in the Sonic X anime and in numerous Sonic the Hedgehog video games from 2005 to 2010. In addition to her on-screen roles, she has been the voice director for the English dub of the Pokémon anime since 2016, a role that has seen her guide the voice performances for the long-running series while also contributing vocal talents for characters like the Water-type starter Pokémon Oshawott, the Fighting-type Gym Leader Korrina, and the villainous Team Galactic commander Mars.
