TV-Series
Description
Nozomu Hanamura appears across multiple installments of the franchise. Introduced as a 12-year-old middle school student in the first season, he turns 13 in the second season. He possesses pale skin, brown eyes, and short blue hair with blunt bangs. His typical outfit consists of a yellow thin sweater layered over a white shirt, dark navy or blue pants, and green or blue loafers.

A childhood fascination with Fairilu, sparked by stories from his grandmother, fuels his dream to become a Fairilu researcher. He owns and frequently consults the Picturebook of Fairilu, a gift from his grandmother, to study Fairilu species and lore. His family includes his younger sister, Karen Hanamura, and his grandmother, Lilas Hanamura.

A pivotal moment occurs when he builds a Fairilu Door and Key in his backyard. He drops the key during an attempt to open the door. Later, the door glows, revealing Lip—an unborn Tulip Fairilu struggling to open her Door of Birth. Through the door, he witnesses her distress. He encourages her with smiles and supportive words, giving her the confidence to succeed. This establishes a lasting connection, though the door closes afterward, preventing further interaction.

Nozomu exhibits a calm, kind, and determined personality. Academically and athletically proficient, he is popular at school. He dislikes sweet foods and develops an interest in music upon learning Fairilus are drawn to it. His belief in Fairilus initially isolates him, as few others share his conviction. This changes when he meets Yumiri, who also expresses faith in Fairilus. They bond over his Picturebook, and he photographs her with his Fairilu Camera. He later discovers Yumiri is Lip in human form.

In the second season, his role expands due to his sister Karen's connection to Rin, a Gentian Flower Fairilu. Karen nurtured Rin's seed while hospitalized, and Rin’s unborn form encouraged Karen during her illness. After Rin’s birth, Nozomu becomes indirectly linked to her story. His relationship with Lip deepens when he assists her during a crisis involving the separation of the human and Fairilu worlds, reinforcing their interdependency.

His name reflects his traits: "Nozomu" (望) means "wish" or "hope," while his surname "Hanamura" combines "flower" (花) and "village" (村).
