Go Hou Mei stands as a prominent military leader from the state of Wei during the Warring States period. He is the son of the late Great General Go Kei, one of Wei's revered Seven Fire Dragons, a lineage that profoundly shapes his path by imposing the weight of his father's legacy and fueling his drive to avenge Go Kei's defeat at the hands of Qin's Duke Hyou.
Trained from youth in military tactics by his father and mentor Rei Ou, another of the Seven Fire Dragons, Go Hou Mei reveals exceptional strategic aptitude early in his career. His rapid rise through Wei's military ranks culminates in appointments as Great General and later as Wei's highest-ranking military commander, securing his place as a key figure in Wei's military structure and within the second generation of the Seven Fire Dragons.
In personality, he displays a calm, analytical demeanor and strong patriotism toward Wei. His actions are consistently motivated by desires to restore Wei's prestige and settle debts with Qin, particularly after losses at Dakan Plains and Sanyou. Pragmatic and willing to enforce severe sacrifices for strategic advantage, he deliberately sacrifices his former teacher Rei Ou during an ambush by the Hi Shin Unit, coldly justifying that Rei Ou's capabilities had diminished and that surpassing him was inevitable within a year.
Though focused on victory, he avoids unnecessary bloodshed and positions his command far from frontline dangers, often utilizing elevated observation points like strategist towers or hills. He employs body doubles and pre-planned escape routes when threatened, prioritizing self-preservation to maintain command continuity. This leadership style inspires loyalty, with soldiers willingly acting as decoys to protect him.
His tactical prowess centers on siege warfare, defensive formations, and technological innovation. He designs specialized siege towers for assaults on formidable fortifications like Kankoku Pass during the Coalition Invasion, later deploying improved versions to capture Juuko City. Defensively, at Choyou, he integrates geography such as rivers and mountains to create interconnected positions functioning as a single fortress, requiring simultaneous multi-directional assaults to breach.
His campaigns include commanding Wei forces in the Coalition Invasion, targeting Kankoku Pass. Later, during the Fire Dragons of Wei arc, he leads the defense of Choyou alongside the remaining Fire Dragons. Though initially successful, coordinated attacks from Ou Hon, Shin, and Roku O Mi breach his formation, forcing Wei's retreat.
In the War of the Three States arc, he brokers an alliance with Qin to attack Chu. At the Battle of Gecchi Plains, he adapts strategy after setbacks, shifting Wei's role to support Qin's assault on Chu's headquarters. Concurrently, he orchestrates a separate operation using siege towers to capture Juuko City, securing territorial gain while the main battle distracts Chu.
Subsequent involvements include observing Qin's campaigns against Zhao and Han. He confronts the Gyoku Hou Army near Rakushi during Qin's Han offensive but withdraws upon learning of Shintei's fall. Statistically, his abilities emphasize intellectual mastery over martial skill, with strength (60), leadership (88–91), and intelligence (97–98) ratings underscoring his specialization in strategy and invention.
