Heki, born into Qin's warrior nobility, rose through military ranks to become a trusted vassal of Chancellor Shou Bun Kun and later a Qin general. His early service as Shou Bun Kun's lieutenant included escorting the young King Ei Sei from Zhao to Qin and suppressing the Sei Kyou rebellion, where he sustained severe injuries fighting the assassin Sa Ji.
Starting as a 1000-man commander in the Keiyou Campaign against Wei, Heki displayed tactical awareness by spotting enemy weaknesses and aiding Duke Hyou. Promotions followed, elevating him to 3000-man commander by the Coalition Invasion. During the Sanyou Campaign under General Ou Sen, Heki effectively leveraged terrain like the "Wei Di" gorge, though he was deliberately deployed as expendable bait. Despite setbacks against Wei's Kyou En, the strategy succeeded.
Heki proved pivotal defending Sai City's eastern wall during the Coalition invasion, integrating Duke Hyou's veterans into the defense to help secure Qin's victory. Achieving the rank of general after this, he then quelled the Tonryuu rebellion, eliminating the traitor General Ryuu through a predictive ambush.
Later, Heki reinforced the Yo Tan Wa Army at the Battle of Ryouyou in the Western Zhao Invasion. Suffering heavy losses and supply destruction against Quanrong and Zhao forces, he collaborated with mountain tribes. Seizing a distraction created by tribesman Danto, Heki killed the Quanrong King Rozo. He continued serving on the Zhao front, commanding 10,000 soldiers at Gian and coordinating with mountain tribe allies such as Kitari.
Personality-wise, Heki exhibits earnest loyalty to Ei Sei and Shou Bun Kun, alongside battlefield anxiety and nervousness. He shows protective concern for comrades like Shin and Ka Ryo Ten, viewing them as younger siblings. His motivation stems from feelings of powerlessness during early political turmoil, driving his ambition to become a Great General and serve as a military pillar for Qin's unification.
As a commander, Heki excels in conventional tactics and formations. He effectively utilizes cavalry for timely reinforcements and integrates archers within shield units for defense while maintaining troop morale. While not possessing exceptional martial prowess, he is proficient with glaives and swords, achieving feats like breaking through Rozo's guards. His leadership reflects balanced strength (82), command (85), and intelligence (87), with recognition for "true achievements" in open battle.
The character's survival links to author Yasuhisa Hara's reinterpretation of Shiji records. Initially planning Heki's death based on a passage interpreted as "General Bi died," Hara later adopted the alternate translation "the general died on the wall," allowing the character to persist beyond the Tonryuu rebellion.
