Description
Magiquone, localized as Arfoire, reigns as a recurring antagonist throughout the Hyperdimension Neptunia franchise. She embodies digital piracy, her English name referencing the R4 flash cart and her Japanese name, Magiquone, deriving from "Magicon," a term for devices enabling pirated software. Her core motivation typically involves schemes to drain Share Energy—the faith and positive emotions powering the goddesses—by mass-producing illegal game copies or causing piracy-related disruptions, aiming to dominate or destroy Gamindustri.

Her background shifts across dimensions. In the Super Dimension (Hyperdimension Neptunia/Re;Birth1/reVerse), she was originally Gamindustri's sole goddess. She later resigned and requested Histoire create four new goddesses to manage the world, but grew resentful and instigated the Console War to reclaim power. The Re;Birth1 adaptation recast her as a human who assisted the original four goddesses. After their deaths, she used copied power to create clones of the current CPUs but was driven insane by the absorbed energy, turning her villainous. In this version's True End, she is purified and reconciles with Histoire and the CPUs.

In the Ultra Dimension (Victory/Rebirth3), she leads ASIC, employing tactics like sentient eggplant minions, though her threat wanes after repeated defeats, particularly due to trauma inflicted by Iris Heart. Zero Dimension Arfoire (VII) manifests from Kurome's memories—a purely destructive entity lacking physical form, who fuses with remnants of Rei Ryghts' power to become a greater threat. Consistently across versions, she displays a hammy, boastful personality with a signature evil laugh, low tolerance for failure, and explosive temper. She harbors intense animosity toward Neptune, often enraged by mispronunciations of her name or Neptune's mere presence.

Her appearances extend beyond main games. In the anime, her plan to capture and drain the CPUs combines elements from multiple game dimensions, including Ultra Dimension's eggplant minions. In *Gakuen Game Neptune: Katsudou Diary*, she establishes the "Shadow Gaministrators" club to sabotage the protagonists' game development via zombie armies and kidnappings. She acts as a final boss in spinoffs like *Neptunia Shooter* and *Dimension Tripper Neptune: TOP NEP*, and in *Neptunia Game Maker R:Evolution*, she leads the Pirate Makers, fusing with Psychostock to become Psyfoire—an entity resembling her Deity of Sin form.

Magiquone frequently undergoes dramatic transformations as a last resort. These include a draconic form in the original game and the Deity of Sin—a colossal embodiment of destruction and chaos. As the Deity of Sin, she declares herself "destruction incarnate," transcending time and viewing world annihilation as inevitable due to stagnation. This form reappears in Ultra Dimension, Zero Dimension, and as Psyfoire in *Game Maker R:Evolution*. She is the only antagonist appearing in all main games and remakes and ranked first in a 2022 poll for "true villain." While most dimensional iterations are defeated or killed, Ultra Dimension Arfoire survives, and her Super Dimension self achieves redemption in Re;Birth1's True End.
