Description
Originating from Planet Red as a deity-like being, Blue serves as Earth's guardian spirit, empowering Pretty Cure warriors. He possesses blue hair and eyes, typically clad in a white shirt, blue pants matching his hair, and white shoes. Gentle and kind by nature, he carries the weight of past regrets. Approximately 300 years before the main events, Blue defended Earth alongside the shrine maiden Mirage, who became Cure Mirage. During this time, they fell in love. Duty forced Blue's departure, unintentionally breaking Mirage's heart and leaving her vulnerable to manipulation, an event that ignited future conflicts as external forces exploited her bitterness.
Blue distributes the Crystals of Love across Earth; these react to girls possessing abundant love, enabling their transformation into Pretty Cures. He personally recruits Hime Shirayuki (Cure Princess) and Megumi Aino (Cure Lovely), providing them with transformation devices and guidance. He establishes a strict rule forbidding Pretty Cures from romantic relationships, fearing emotional turmoil could compromise their duties. This rule creates tension, particularly when Megumi develops unreciprocated feelings for him, feelings he either remains unaware of or deliberately ignores.
His relationship with Phantom, Queen Mirage's loyal servant, is adversarial due to Phantom's resentment over Blue's past actions toward Mirage. During confrontations, Phantom attacks the combat-weak Blue, who willingly risks his life to protect the Cures, citing Mirage's disapproval of his death as a deterrent. Blue also displays deep concern for Cure Fortune's unexplained powers, later discovering they originate from her sister, Cure Tender. This revelation amplifies his guilt over being the "source of all misfortunes."
A significant revelation exposes Deep Mirror, Queen Mirage's adviser, as Red, Blue's older brother. Red harbors centuries-old jealousy toward Blue for protecting Earth while Red's own planet perished. This jealousy fuels Red's manipulation of Mirage and his campaign to destroy Earth, forcing Blue to experience similar despair. Their conflict culminates in a confrontation where Blue asserts that "love can conquer hate," leading to Red's eventual purification by Forever Lovely and their reconciliation.
Blue intensifies his efforts to reach Mirage. In a critical battle against the brainwashed Cure Tender (Mirage), he intervenes to protect Cure Fortune, sustaining severe injuries. When the Cures purify Tender, Blue seizes the moment to confess his true feelings to Mirage, though their reunion is interrupted by Deep Mirror. After Mirage's full purification in a subsequent battle, Blue is finally reunited with her.
Following the defeat of the Phantom Empire and Red's redemption, Blue decides to leave Earth. He entrusts planetary protection to the Pretty Cures and departs with Mirage and Red to restore Planet Red.
