Description
Blue, a spirit-like deity from the Blue Sky Kingdom, serves as the guardian who grants power to the Happiness Charge Pretty Cure team. Over 300 years old and 180 cm tall, he possesses blue hair and eyes, typically wearing a white shirt, blue pants matching his hair, and white shoes. Gentle and kind, he carries deep guilt over past actions that inadvertently caused suffering.
Approximately 300 years before the events, Blue fell in love with Mirage, a human shrine maiden at the Pikarigaoka shrine, protecting Earth alongside her as Cure Mirage. His duties as a deity compelled him to leave Mirage, deeply hurting her and creating an emotional rift. This abandonment allowed his brother, Red, to manipulate her heartbreak, leading her toward darkness and the formation of the Phantom Empire. Blue later reveals Mirage misunderstood his departure, believing he did not love her equally, though he genuinely cared.
Actively recruiting and mentoring Pretty Cures, Blue appears at Princess Hime's residence to grant her the pink Crystal of Love. When Aino Megumi expresses a desire to protect others, the crystal reacts to her heart, prompting Blue to designate her as Hime's partner. He provides Cure Lines for communication, emphasizes secret identities, supplies Hime with a school uniform to integrate into human society, and establishes rules for the Cures, notably prohibiting romantic relationships to avoid emotional fallout compromising their duties. He actively guides their development, such as banning Megumi from Pretty Cure activities when her academics falter, stressing studies take priority.
Beyond mentorship, Blue monitors global Saiark threats through mirrors and coordinates with international Pretty Cure teams. He possesses dimensional travel capabilities, using mirrors to access locations tied to a person's heart. During confrontations, he intervenes directly despite lacking combat powers; he shields Cure Fortune from an attack by the corrupted Cure Tender (Mirage) and attempts to appeal to Mirage's lingering goodness. After her purification, Blue reconciles with Mirage and departs Earth with her and Red to restore Planet Red, entrusting Earth to the Cures.
In *Pretty Cure All Stars New Stage 3: Eien no Tomodachi*, Blue identifies a supernatural disturbance causing children to fall into comas. He sends the Doki Doki! and Happiness Charge Cures into the dream world to investigate. When antagonist Maamu traps most Cures in idealized dreams, Blue remains a strategic advisor. He later channels Miracle Lights into the dream world, empowering children and fairies to support the Cures, enabling the trapped warriors to break free and join the final battle.
Blue maintains complex relationships. He harbors deep remorse toward Mirage, repeatedly seeking her redemption until their reunion. His dynamic with Phantom, Mirage's loyal servant, is adversarial due to Phantom's resentment over Mirage's suffering. His relationship with his older brother Red is initially hostile due to Red's jealousy and desire to inflict despair, but they reconcile after Forever Lovely purifies Red, allowing them to migrate together.
