John Smith is a high-ranking Schwartz operative dedicated to exploiting ancient technology for undisclosed goals. His name is an alias safeguarding the organization's secret operations, scale, and command structure.

In the prequel, he acts as Schwartz's public face, coordinating efforts to capture Sifr Fran of Windbloom's royal lineage. Schwartz seeks to exploit her unique ability to activate lost technology, potentially igniting global conflict. He collaborates with Nagi, a key figure in later events, and is assisted by Kiddo, a young, volatile, and fanatical Schwartz member explicitly designated as his successor to the "John Smith" alias.

John Smith later orchestrates a major assault, remodelling Fuuka Palace into a mobile fortress. He deploys it during Garderobe Academy's graduation ceremony, seizing control of Nagi's Vint Bloom airship fleet. Following this invasion, he becomes Nagi's aide.

His story concludes in the subsequent conflict. Acting under Nagi's command, he attempts to shoot Sergei Wong as Sergei tries to disable the Valkyrie system. This triggers lethal retaliation from Sergei, resulting in John Smith's death. Kiddo inherits his Schwartz position and alias, ensuring the organization's continuity.
