Description
Hina Setoguchi, younger sister to Yu Setoguchi, first meets her upperclassman Koyuki Ayase in middle school after accidentally tripping him, resulting in an embarrassing underwear reveal. This awkward encounter sparks a one-sided romantic interest in Koyuki. Determined to pursue him, she diligently studies to enter Sakuragaoka High School. Her childhood friend Kotaro Enomoto, secretly harboring feelings for her, also gains admission to stay close.

Standing 149 cm tall, she is notably the shortest among her peers. She has distinctive short pink hair, typically worn in two low pigtails reaching her neck, with sidelocks framing her cheeks; when down, it extends to her shoulder blades. Her school uniform features the standard female attire layered with a yellow cardigan in colder seasons and a white short-sleeved shirt in warmer weather. Casually, she favors a striped hoodie and shorts, often pinning her bangs back.

Her personality is bubbly, energetic, and highly expressive, displaying exaggerated emotions when happy or upset. Despite this outward cheerfulness, she grapples with deep-seated insecurities, particularly her inability to confess to Koyuki, causing significant frustration. Perceptive and empathetic, she easily forms friendships like her bond with Arisa Takamizawa, whom she supports during moments of social awkwardness. She values genuine connections, taking pride in befriending Koyuki before his transformation made him popular.

Her hobbies include participating in the Track and Field club and playing video games, frequently platformer-style titles with her neighbor and close friend Natsuki Enomoto using her brother Yu's consoles.

Her romantic arc centers on persistent, unrequited feelings for Koyuki. Throughout high school, subtle attempts to convey her emotions consistently fail. Her resolve culminates in writing a love letter for a formal confession. However, she chooses a moment when Koyuki is emotionally vulnerable after overhearing Natsuki's confession to Yu. Misinterpreting Hina's confession as pity, Koyuki rejects her, leaving her heartbroken. Kotaro witnesses this and confronts Koyuki, who advises him to cherish Hina. Kotaro then comforts Hina, offering to walk her home. This marks a turning point; she begins attending Kotaro's soccer matches, gradually recognizing his consistent support and kindness. Over time, her romantic feelings shift towards Kotaro, and she later acknowledges him as her "hero." In a subsequent film, during a group outing with their siblings, Kotaro confesses his love. She responds with a knowing smile, indicating awareness and reciprocation.

Her familial relationship with older brother Yu is close and affectionate. Yu dotes on her, allowing her to borrow his clothes and games, and often relents when she is upset. She admires his kindness and maturity, viewing him as an ideal figure. She shares a sister-like bond with Natsuki, frequently engaging in gaming sessions and expressing approval of a potential relationship between Natsuki and Yu.

Her name, "Hina," translates to "chick, duckling, doll," reflecting her association with birds in some official artwork, a trait shared with Hiyori Suzumi.
