TV Special
Description
The Principal leads Tomobiki High School as a calm, elderly figure. He speaks slowly, delivering monotonous speeches focused on school spirit. Remarkably unflappable, he treats the frequent supernatural chaos, alien invasions, and destruction at the school as routine events. His primary role involves initiating and organizing school events designed to build camaraderie. However, his extreme ideas often transform these events into dangerous or life-threatening situations.

He is perpetually accompanied by Kotatsu-neko, a ghost cat that perches on his shoulders or shadows him closely, underscoring his connection to the supernatural. In the *Za Shōgaibutsu Suiei Taikai* special, he collaborates with teacher Onsen-Mark to organize an obstacle course swimming competition. The event promises winners exemption from summer homework, but its obstacles grow increasingly perilous. When multiple students near victory, he modifies the prize to a kiss from himself, causing finalists like Lum and Ataru to deliberately lose to avoid it.

His composure endures even during extreme crises. When Oyuki’s wind chimes accidentally freeze the entire school during the competition, he remains unfrozen alongside Kotatsu-neko and others. The competition concludes with Kotatsu-neko—unintentionally involved—retrieving the victory flag ("Dappya"). The Principal then kisses the cat’s paw as the promised reward.

This tendency to instigate chaos extends beyond this special. Throughout the series, his events consistently disrupt normalcy, yet he never acknowledges their consequences, maintaining his detached demeanor. He first appeared in the manga from the very beginning, while the anime introduced him in Episode 33, replacing an initially different design. His final animated appearance in the original continuity occurs in this 2008 special.
